'Jersey Shore' cast on Sandy devastation

With New Jersey "seeing the worst crisis it's seen in a long time," as Newark Mayor Cory Booker told CNN Wednesday, the MTV reality stars who came to fame from their time spent in Seaside Heights say they're devastated over the damage done to their "second home."

The "Jersey Shore" crew filmed hours at the famed boardwalk and in the now familiar Seaside home, which according to the Hollywood Reporter has withstood Sandy's wrath.

"Crying over the damage the jersey shore and my town received. Legit boats are on the roads I used to drive. I cannot believe this," Jenni "JWoww" Farley tweeted Tuesday. "Bubbas and lucky arcade are no more but the shore store is standing but major damage."

Added Samantha "Sammi" Giancola, "For all the people that have gone through this hurricane and destruction, my heart goes out to you. ... Seeing seaside and what has happened to my hometown is beyond devastating. I have no words."

"My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by this disaster in Seaside and all across the Northeast. I'm here to support in any way I can," Vinny Guadagnino said in a statement, while new mom Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi chimed in, "Sandy destroyed Seaside — our second home. It's devastating to see our boardwalk and favorite spots ruined. My prayers go out to everyone affected by the storm."

The reality stars, including Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio and Ronnie Magro, have been tweeting encouragements to support the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts in Jersey Shore and beyond.

Snooki, in defense to a Twitter user who inquired, "Why don't you BUMS of JERSEY SHORE get your a**es out there and help!!! That place MADE you!!!," responded that she is helping, and MTV has pledged to help as well.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the hurricane, especially our friends and business owners in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, who are now part of the MTV family," the network said in a statement. "MTV is actively exploring ways to best help with the recovery efforts, and in the meantime we are encouraging everyone to donate to the American Red Cross' disaster relief efforts.”

Added Sammi via Twitter, "Anything to help the people effected by this storm including my own hometown. I will be helping the jersey shore get back together altogether. This is my home."

A lot of what you point out is supprisingly appropriate and that makes me wonder why I had not looked at this with this light before. Your article truly did turn the light on for me as far as this particular subject matter goes. Nonetheless at this time there is actually one particular position I am not really too cozy with and whilst I try to reconcile that with the actual central idea of your point, permit me see exactly what the rest of your subscribers have to say.Well done.

Why is everyone hating on the Jersery Shore crew? How about hating on the MTV producers? You people really think the Jersey Shore crew comes up with the ploys and plots of each episode. (Hahahaha) They are just everday people, trying to make a living like everyone else. If you want to hate on people; Hate on the MTV producers.

You are correct of course. If reality TV has taught us anything it's that there is no shortage of morons who want nothing more than to go on television and make complete fools of themselves for all to see. MTV gives them a platform to do that. The problem is that these people have done more harm to America than good by glamorizing the worst aspects of human nature. I guess it's America's fault for watching.

Yes indeed. These second generation Italian Americans are your classical "guidos" and "guidettes" . Their interpretation of the Italian culture is quite laughable to a first generation Italian who lives in Italy or in the US.

The Jersey shoreline did a lot to make these people rise to the top, the least they can do is some major charitable work to help the state pick up the pieces from Sandy.

Proper men and women born in Italy who migrated to the US think of these people as lowlifes and are disgusted the way these people disgrace their Italian heritage.

I agree that these people ruined New Jersey's image. Hopefully they can make huge charitable contributions to right the ship and help NJ recover.

I've got to say that after watching Christie (Mr. Back with a hole) whining about his million dollar beach home owners and wobbling around with his new found pal, he really is as disgusting as he appears. The only reason he's upset is that his favorite Donut shop was swept out to sea and he needed his fat fix for the day. I'm sure that somewhere in the Universe (right now) there's a huge meteor (with our name on it) heading this way to purge this planet of all of these people who run the show (or side show I might add)

Mike you are obviously a human with little intelligence and obviously no heart. if you knew a damn thing about the real shore then you would know that the majority of the people that live in seaside year round are not rich people with million dollar homes. are there many along the shore? of course. dont hate because you cant afford one because you lack the abilities to have enough money to be that privileged. reality is that the vast majority of those people are just middle class citizens who happen to be good people and lost a lot. so take your snotty comments and shove them up your ass.

First off, they're r e t a r d s. Second, many of the homes on the beach at the jersey shore are vacation homes. Ask anyone seeing beach homes destroyed and expensive boats piled up how they feel when they're out of work and on unemployment. Insurance will fix those folks up better then they were before. Too bad the storm did not take out all of the A.C. casinos as they're simply a blight on humanity and the economy.

If people are so broken up, why do they find themselves on twitter? Shouldn't you be off sulking, to wrought with discontent to put finger to keypad to abbreviate your "intelligence"? Enough with the fake twitter-grief; limiting your thoughts to certain amounts of characters does not convey sadness. PS – I am sad only for the working class people, not the rich Chrstie friends who lost their second homes and have insurance. Beachfront property is not for the poor or the struggling. You'd think white people were stranded on bayou rooftops or something....THIS IS NOT KATRINA.

I wish they had all been killed and washed out to sea never to be seen or heard from again. You see folks, the tragedy is not what did happen, its what didn't happen to these vile disgusting vomitous masses of plastic flesh.

Forget prayers, the cast and producers have made so much money filming there why don't they donate some of the millions they made?

The temperatures have been trending up since the last ice age ended 12,000 years ago. Nobody was using fossil fuels and driving SUV’s 12,000 years ago when we had a major climate change that continues today. Al Gore and those who have a ve$ted interest in pushing the ‘man made’ global warming nonsense want you to believe temps have only started to trend upward recently. That simply is not true. When the ice age ended (about 12,000 years ago) and temps began to rise it had to be due to natural, not man-made reasons. Scientists are reluctant to come forward with that inconvenient truth because it busts their weak theory, would jeopardize scientific funding, and ruin the ‘$$green energy$$’ rackets that are making so many people wealthy as they soak up taxpayer subsidies. Follow the money and challenge the dumbed-down conventional wisdom.

Maybe you should stop getting your scientific info from the Heritage Foundation and Association for Free Enterprise. News break: they are not trustworthy sources.

Yet you can't source anything other than your own opinion on why a proven fact should be discredited. Wow you are naive.

The lady that the President was hugging was not a rich lady who owned a yacht, she was a lady of moderate means who owned a business on the dock selling fuel, tackle and general fishing supplies and now she has nothing. Yes, she actually worked for a living. Jesus Christ, are we all that cynical now that we can't see the good in anything anymore. He gave her a hug and she cried on his shoulder.

BTW, the other posters are absolutely right, these Jersey Shore celebs need to put their money where there mouths are.

Why does the media think we care? Because you clicked on the story, read it and then commented on it.

I hate to be a cynic, but could the president hug someone other than the poor little rich lady who lost her boat!! Yes, I know rich people need love too, but I'm pretty sure someone else lost their home AND their business around there that he could hug.

I agree with you. I'd be spending a heck of a lot more time with those who don't have wealth on their side. I couldn't care less about those who lost their "weekend house", or their favorite spot in the Hamptons. The only good thing about this storm is that it brought most people to the same level (most people, but not all). I admire those who've actually had to WORK for what they have, and not so much about the ones who are ticked off because they lost a day or two of stock trading. Let's see if the celebs do something to contribute to the effort instead of just "tweeting" and getting some PR in while all this is happening.
