Rainn Wilson: NBC passing on 'Office' spinoffFans of “The Office” might not get that in-depth look at Dwight Schrute’s life as a beet farmer, after all. Rainn Wilson, who has played the character on the NBC series for nine seasons, recently reported that the network isn’t moving forward with the “Office” spinoff, “The Farm.”
The pilot of "The Farm," which features Wilson’s Dwight as a beet farmer tending a bed and breakfast, will likely air as an episode of “The Office,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC has yet to confirm the news, but, prior to Wilson’s tweet, the network announced that the single-camera comedy “Up All Night” would switch to a multicamera format. |

Its not surprising. When it comes to original shows,, American TV organizations just don't have the courage to launch new programs, unless an equivalent has already been demonstrated in some other country. The Farm will probably have to start in England first and then NBC may consider acquiring the rights. Its too bad, because I could have imaged "The Farm" as being a US version of the famous "Fawlty Towers"
I’m a bit disappointed to hear that NBC might not show The Farm. I’ve loved watching The Office for about five seasons and I'd been looking forward to this spin off on primetime. I’m a primetime junkie and I never get enough of all the awesome shows thanks to my Hopper DVR, which my coworker at DISH told me all about. I look forward to getting all my primetime shows recorded using the PrimeTime Anytime features since I work in the evening. I can enable the feature and I get all four major networks recorded on one TV and my family can still watch their shows on the other TV’s. This works well versus when I’d use multiple DVRs tie up all the TVs and leave the kids watching recordings only.
The only reason I was interested in this was to see more Mose.
Dude looks like his suit is from the 1970's
I likes me some pickled beets.
This just stinks. I bet this really would have ended up being one of my favorite shows. I love beets and a show about a beet farm would be awesome. It kind of sounds a little like the old Newhart show. Picked beets are good.
