Alicia Keys on the role she's been eyeing, new appAlicia Keys has stepped in front of the camera to appear in films like “The Secret Life of Bees” and “The Nanny Diaries,” but there’s one role the musician has been particularly eager to play. “I’ve had my eye on the role of Lena Horne for awhile, and it’s been a little bit of a discussion in different ways for awhile as well,” Keys told CNN. "And I’d really love it if that came together because, what a beautiful woman, a beautiful story, such an incredible time, and that would be a cool thing to explore.” Keys said it’s her current role as mom to 2-year-old Egypt that has “definitely changed me.” “I think that it’s just made me more powerful and more clear,” she said. “And more, like, just focused on what I want to do and how to do it. So that’s been a good feeling.” One thing Keys wanted to do was create an animated storytelling app called “The Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee,” “You know my relationship with my grandmother is just one of the most special relationships I can ever recall, she said. “And we definitely read stories; she was big on teaching and learning.” Keys has also written music to go with the app, with some help from her son. “Egypt and I have written these songs, so it’s really cool,” she said. “It’s a collaboration between the two of us.” “The Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee” is currently available for $3.99 on iTunes.

Lena Horne was cute but not really pretty like the lady that played Carmen she was beautiful there was something too expressive about Lena's face that made her slightly unattractive but she was very talented and didn't get the proper stardom she deserved. I have said for years that Alicia Keys had Lena's smile and should play her some day Alicia is attractive but not in the beyonce sort of way the same way Lena was NO Dorothy Dandrige so good luck to Alicia I can't wait to see the movie!
She was great in the Secret Life of Bees. She's pretty enough to play Lena Horne and she has the talent. It looks like the sky is the limit for her.

Well my idea of greatness is in agreement with Louisa. Alicia was great in The Secret Life of Bees and she is beautiful and very talented. She would make an excellent Lena Horn, except I believe she is much more beautiful and talented. Her music is undeniably the best.
