Watch: Trailer lands for 'Iron Man 3'Come May 2013, Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark will be back in his Iron Man suit for yet another summer, but the Marvel hero will also be in a much darker place. "I've got a lot of apologies to make ... I can't sleep, and when I do I have nightmares," Downey's hero says in a voiceover. "Honestly, there's 100 people who'd want to kill me." He hopes, looking toward Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts, that he can "protect the one thing" he can't live without.
And then, enter the villain of "Iron Man 3": Ben Kingsley's The Mandarin, who fancies himself a teacher rather than a terrorist. "Lesson No. 1," Kingsley intones in the trailer. "Heroes. There is no such thing." The clip seems intent to prove that point, as we watch havoc invade Stark's life. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told USA Today that seeing Stark so broken is the arc of the third film. "While he is a charming guy, it is often hard to root for a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist because they seem to have it all," Feige said. "In this movie, we are again going to see him stripped down more than we've ever seen him since he was in that cave, again with his back against the wall and with nothing but his wits to help him survive." "Iron Man 3," directed by co-screenwriter Shane Black ("Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"), will open May 3, 2013. |

The best part about all of these haters and trash talkers is that they probably did the same thing for IM1 and 2, and for the Avengers, and then they stand in line to buy a ticket and go see the movie anyway. I especially love when the haters that I've known went to WalMart and went and bought the DVD. For a movie they had to say so much crap about, and now it sits in their DVD library. Total morons. Just keep your mouth shut, watch the movie, THEN decide.

I can't wait for this movie! RDJ has made this role so deeply felt, so multi-dimensional and so real that it can hardly even be called a "comic-book" movie. The character of Tony Stark has grown and changed over the years, through two Iron Man movies and Avengers now, and having this movie deal with his personal fears and vulnerabilities will be wonderful for all of us fans. I have always said that, while we appreciate the big CGI effects, the iron men fighting and the exhilarating flying scenes, it all comes back to the characters and the audience caring about them. Marvel knows how to do this with great elan, and RDJ humanizes and defines every character he takes on – he is truly one of America's finest actors. What a cast – two-time Oscar nominee Downey and Oscar winners Paltrow and Kingsley – "comic book movies" are not to be trivialized any more. They are the mythos of our time. Rock on, RDJ.

I agree – love Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man – and the movies are awesome! From a woman's point of view, I want him to find happiness. Yes, sappy, but it's artistic expression and happy endings are what makes watching the movies fun and exciting. Let's just enjoy the entertainment and leave RDJ's past out of it – he's proven he's been able to overcome his real-life demons, even with the missteps. I love the series and just want to enjoy the experience!
