Thursday night’s episode of “30 Rock” addressed yet another hot button real-life issue when Tracy tweeted at Stephen Hawking that women aren’t funny. Nerd rage!
Liz confronted Tracy, arguing, “Maybe things that men like are boring to women … Football, motorcycles, steak restaurants, really dark superhero movies. These are things that suck.”
But she couldn’t get through to him. In fact, Tracy tried to convince her to book a hilarious monkey.
Liz even had Page Six refer to Jenna as a teen. When Jenna found out, she said, “If I find out that someone around here planted this disgusting story that I’m young, I’m going to do to them what I did with my own ribs. Take them out.”
See, Jenna was trying to avoid the middle-aged actress curse and skip right to “amazing slut who wins Oscars” age. She was even battling Jamie Lee Curtis for endorsements like Gerry Chair and Cold Flash Menopause Popsicles.
But not everyone was reveling in the aging process. Jack was juggling several women, including heiress and socialite Pizzarina Sbarro (Nina Arianda).
But when Jack ran into Zarina with his sex idiot Mindy, he found out that Zarina also had a sex idiot, young beefcake Ryan Lochte (in the role of a lifetime). He suddenly had to deal with an unfamiliar emotion: insecurity.
Liz, however, was feeling very confident about the sexual awakening she’d had in her bathing suit area (though considering the size of her bathing suits, that could be anywhere). When the female writers declined to talk climaxes over brunch, she tried to discuss her new sex-positive lifestyle with Jack. “We did it in the shower. My shoes got ruined.”
When Tracy’s new monkey friend was met on set with uproarious laughter, Liz was forced to engage with him. “Male nipples funny. Monkey nipples funny. Female nipples useless!” yelled Tracy.
So she asked Jenna to revive their Piven-nominated, two-woman show for the staff to prove that women are as funny as monkeys. “Are we though?” wondered Jenna. “Are you thinking or doing kegels?” Liz asked.
Jenna agreed to do her first favor ever, and even Tracy thought the show was hilarious ... because it featured a woman playing a doctor.
Though we women don’t need to prove that we’re funny, Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski have provided America with more laughs than any man or monkey over the past six seasons.
At the episode’s end, Liz lounged on her bed Carrie Bradshaw-style in a tutu, typing away. She wondered, “Do men and women really see the world so differently? Or can we agree that we’re all just monkeys with suitcases trying to seem like people?"
What did you think of last night’s episode?
