Ashton Kutcher: TV's highest-paid actor

Ashton Kutcher's move to "Two and a Half Men" has paid off.

The 34-year-old, who signed on to the show in May of last year, is No. 1 on Forbes' list of the highest-paid actors on TV.

According to the publication, Kutcher made an estimated $24 million between May 2011 and May 2012. (His Emmy-winning co-star Jon Cryer, meanwhile, brought in around $13 million.)

No, $24 million isn't close to the $40 million that put former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen in the No. 1 spot on this same list in 2011, but times have swiftly changed. Sheen, who rebounded with a new TV show on FX, isn't on the highest-paid actors list at all this year.

Coming in at Nos. 2 and 3 behind Kutcher are former "House" star Hugh Laurie, who made an estimated $18 million between May 2011 and May 2012, and one of the stars of the now defunct "Men of a Certain Age," Ray Romano. With his voiceover work in the "Ice Age" franchise and his old sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" in syndication, Romano earned an estimated $18 million as well.

Coming in at No. 4 on Forbes list is "30 Rock's" Alec Baldwin with $15 million, and rounding out the top five is "NCIS" actor Mark Harmon, who also earned an estimated $15 million over the past year.

    WHERE ARE THE WOMEN??
There are talented and funny women anchoring (starring & producing) some great shows – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, to name a couple.
Sadly, this is not at all surprising. I don't expect to see pay equity any time soon, and certainly not in Hollywood.

I tried watching the new episodes with Ashton in them and I can't even finish one! Charlie MADE the show interesting. Now it's a total snooze.

$24 Million? Really? Ashton sucks. Ashton's comedic timing is really bad. The humor seems forced. The dynamic relationship of Charlie and Allan that made Two and a Half Men funny is gone! Say what you want about Charlie Sheen but he was more fitting to make the show funny! Ashton is way too much of a "pretty boy" to be a comedian.

Couldn't agree more. The dynamics between Charlie and Allan were what made the show so funny. I still watch the reruns every chance I get and laugh out loud every time. The whole premise of the new Two and a Half Men doesn't even make any sense to me. I tried to watch it a couple of times, but never made it through an entire episode. I also hate the remodel job done on Charlie's malibu home; no personality.

NCIS is one of the most watched television programs, both in total viewers (it's ranked with NBC Sunday Night Football), and in the top twenty with the 18 – 49 demo. Not bad for a show that has been on the air for several years.
Mark Harmon earns every penny CBS pays him, in addition to the USA network, which airs repeats of NCIS.

Sorry, but the show isn't as good without Crazy Charlie,he is a much better actor Ashton.Jon Cryer and the supporting cast are the ones holding the show together.

John Cryer should be paid the most - he dealt with Charlie and now Ashton. At least Charlie was funny; Ashton isn't.

Any adult or teen that uses the term "haters" should probably be ignored, but I've got to ask why you feel the need to be the complete, extreme opposite and "love" someone for.... what, being a known actor?

Proof of the dumbing down of America. There are fine dramatic actors in series like "Mad Men", "Homeland" but this empty headed boob is the highest paid?

This is one reason why the major networks have been losing so many viewers.

    October 18, 2012 at 10:57 am | Report abuse | Reply
    • Tim

For whatever reason, people like or have liked that awful show, which shows the "dumbing down", rather than how much someone is paid. I know a guy with no intellect, skills or talent that had his parents fund his company for him (he has a story how he built it up himself, which is BS) and he sold it for $225M this year, all for doing/knowing nothing. At least Ashton has a fan base and put in the work (as if acting is work, but you get the idea).

2.5 Men could have been so much better without Kutcher. Alan could have struggled to pay for the house, maybe adding Herb as a roommate. And, of course, there could have been a lot of cute scripts with guest stars about roommates Alan lets move in. As it is, I have stopped watching the show. Can't stand that English woman, and the writers have made Alan too pathetic. Ashton is definitely not worth the money!

The top 12 are all men. Why isn't Tina Fey on this list instead if that buffoon, Alec Baldwin? Why are two men from The Big Bang Theory but none of the women? Speaks volumes about the lies from Hollywood trying to make us all believe that the world would be better if we did things their way.
