'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' hits ratings highTLC is probably pretty pleased right now. Following the network’s decision to order additional episodes (and “HOLLAday” specials) of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” Wednesday’s mid-season finale earned the series’ highest ratings yet. A record 2.8 million people tuned in to watch Alana, the former "Toddlers & Tiaras" star, and her family on the reality show’s one-hour episode, according to TV by the Numbers. “Honey Boo Boo,” which was the source of controversy even before it premiered, has averaged 2.4 million viewers since its August 8 premiere.

I think the show is dirty. The mother and her daughters cuss on the show. The house is nasty . What do you think our children think of how they live. I have stopped watching the show. Because they are getting paid to live like animals.
Certainly not lower, no matter if you can find yourself pathetic, since you can never predict who seems to be falling out in love with any be happy.

Alana is full of sunshine. She has a beautiful spirit which makes me smile and laugh. Her family takes care of her and appears to be full of fun and love. And gives all of their time and attention to something she apparently loves. Many fathers aren't around typical family households to enjoy a tee ball or little league game with their sons. Or even a dance recital or singing lessons with their daughters. Atleast they invest time, money and show a sincere interest in their child's activity. She's not being abused and mistreated. The habits and public behavior of the family may not be appropriate at times but they remain a family, stick together, have fun together with little means and love life. It troubles me more that people hide behind their insensitive comments attacking people with mean, harsh words because we're different from one another. No they aren't supermodels, skinny middle class A&F wearing copycats and fitins. They are the fabric of Americana we rarely see and think about which happens to live along side of a railroad track in rural southern america. It's beautiful to see a family bonding well. It's refreshing to know they find activities outside of a cellphone, twitter, facebook, gaming device and even planted in the seat of a motion picture to get out and enjoy life. And live it as they know it. Live your lives. And please stop with your weapons of harsh, unkind and hateful words.
Reality TV was never real. But this... is definitely Trash TV. Saw it once. Will never waste my time again.

This show represents positives as well as negatives. But if you look at the list only the rich people hate this show because they have to buy children and love. If you start a family, you realize that there is going to be time were you have to sacrifice things for the well being of your children. What June does is amazing! How many people do you see letting people come into their house and Let the world see that they do everything she can to make Honey Boo Boo, Chubbs, Pumpkin and Chickadee happy. If you can't see that then you are a selfish, low life.

The woman is 34 or 35 years old – and a grandmother! She has 4 kids all with different sperm donors, and she pimps out her youngest daughter for these meat parasdes (pageants). I absolutely hate reality tv shows, I barely watch television at all, as I much prefer to spend my time reading. However, for some reason I get such a kick out of this show and I really do not know why. No matter what this family looks like at first glance, they are definitely a very close family and treat each other better than a lot of people I know treat their families.
Whether haters like it or not, the free market has deemed Honey Boo Boo high art.

I tried to watch an episode to see that the fuss was about. Within minutes, I felt my brain start to artophy, so that was the end of that.

My average day at the office and then home with the kids is such a mind bender; this is the perfect show to watch and unwind to. Its a charming show and Alana is hilarious!
They are uncouth and eat badly, but they don't act particularly dysfunctional. They all seems happy. I have seen much worse in my clean, suburban, middle class neighborhood. And that little kid is nothing if not charismatic. If she was just another boring cute kid, no one would watch. The show itself treats them as morons, which is terribly exploitive.
Ill admit that I did watch this and may again but not because I love the family or because they display love for each other. Im with the 99.9 percent who are watching it because they cant beleive that people like this actually exist. And even though it makes me a hypocrite for watchig it, I dont like how they are being rewarded simply becase they act in a way that most people are taught not to act.

Who in their right mind would watch any of these reality shows? So many people out there without a life. Get off your lazy behinds and do something productive. Listen, I have watched this show a few times and actually laugh out loud regularly. It's entertaining and that family is close and loving. Who cares if they lack some manners – you don't have to live with them. And as for your judgment of people who watch this show, get off your high horse! You're so great that you feel you can insult everyone? I am highly educated, a mom of 4 very busy, active kids. My husband and I spend our days at work (we bring home close to 200k which suggests at least SOME intelligence) and our evenings chauffeuring the kids to their hockey games and practices, to the track for cross country running, and oh, we also try to squeeze in family time and time to hit the gym. And if I want to take one hour to myself at night to relax and think of nothing, I am allowed to do so without worrying about what morons like you will think. Get a life.

My, my, if people are in such an uproar over a reality show and especially making it political, you all have way too much time on your hands, why don't you volunteer for a homeless shelter like I do and really make a difference. The thing I worry about most with this little girl is that what happens when she grows up? I have heard of people talking about their glory days, but what happens when your glory days are when you were 3-4 years old?
I cannot imaging what it would be like to be a has been when you are just entering your teens. There are SO many stories of child stars self destructing once they get older and are no longer cute kds.
I can only hope that she will remain grounded, but after watching the show I am thinking that is not going to happen.

Disclosure – I have never watched the show, nor do I intend to. Neither have I ever watched "Toddlers and Tiaras". The only things I know about her family is what has been on news stories and in the press. Considering that her family environment is not exactly conducive to a normal upbringing, I can see her becoming a teen mom just liker her mother and big sister. These people have got to be the most pathetic creatures on television outside of those folks on the shows about hoarders. Instead of being The Learning Channel trying to educate us, it has stooped to the lowest common denominator with shows such as the previous ones I mentioned, along with the other shows that appeal to our basest instincts, such as what used to draw people to freak shows. Well, congratulations! They have brought the freaks to us, instead.
You hope she will "remain grounded?" She is not even close to being "grounded." The whole family is beyond words, but the fact that a "record 2.8 million" people watched this show speaks volumes...and it isn't encouraging.

I would take Honey Boo Boo's family over a family like the Kardashians ANY day. Like it or not, this family is REAL. They're not asking you to accept them, agree with them, be like them or even like them. Don't like it? Don't watch it. I personally think that 'adult cartoons' such as Family Guy or The Simpsons are much more trashy than this show could ever be.
The family is real....real pathetic. I've tuned in for a few seconds, long enough to hear Boo Boo's pig mother say a few incoherent words, then had to immediately change the channel. Say what you want about the Simpsons, but that show actually has very creative writing, and timely commentary. I live in Georgia not far from this family. I can assure you that this is NOT the normal southern family. I have watched the show and read local articles about this family. I understand that trust accounts have Been set up for each child and that the income from the show will be saved. I do not agree with their lifestyle but it's their choice and i do believe they are happy. I believe the show will be short lived and I pray that this child will benefit from the money in the future.

I used to get upset seeing different woman in a niqab getting beat with a shoe by their husbands in Afganistan and Baghdad, but this is what is replacing that feeling. I will never watch a show that does not teach values or morals. This just shows how true "laughing all the way to the bank" is. Honey Boo Boo is not any worse than most of the garbage on tv including CNN,MSNBC,FOX and whatever else you got. Its just peoples choice in entertainment. I agree. If people commenting would actually watch the show instead of just the clips/previews, you'd know that this family is pretty decent. It's obvious that the parents love their kids and provide for them the best they can. I suspect it would be difficult for most people to pass up the opportunity to make some money when you don't have alot of it.

I thought at first that I would detest this show but after tuning in one evening I actually found it to be weirdly absorbing. This is a family living in the deep South with marginal education and no cultural exposure except for the small town goings on around them. To a certain extent they do fit certain stereotypes of poor Southern whites. Their diet is deplorable, their manners are non-existent, their grammar is horrendous and their choices for family activities are bizarre (dunking for pig's feet, etc).
On the other hand, they are doing the best they can with what they have and apepar to hold genuine, albeit odd, family bonds. As for Alana, she is just a little girl who loves her family and still believes in Santa Claus. She can be as funny, insightful and rambuncious as any other six year old.
Admittedly this is a weird show, but there is no reason to hate these people.
It's definitely not about hating the people; it's about hating the exploit and the family's willing embrace of it. Human nature is a disgusting thing whether it's about TV execs trying to make money off of a poor white trash family from the south or about white trash selling the soul of their poorly raised child for cash. Neither are appealing, but the worst has to be those who extract entertainment from it. Deplorable at best.

The dumbing down of America appears to be near completeion. I had the unfortunate pleasure of watching about 10 minutes of this filth at a friend's home (trailer) and could conclude that this is the worst thing on tv. I can't even call it a show. Anything that has to blur out a pig because it is pooping on the kitchen table should not be on tv. If you have even seen the movie "Idiocracy" you will know exactly where stuff like this is going to lead us. So much for The LEARNING Channel. I try not to be judgemental, but this stuff is just crap.
Idiocracy is right. But I think being white trash is the building blocks to get there. I have only watched a few minutes but it just so happened that they were mixing a tub of butter with ketchup. I understand the whole cost of feeding a family, but really? A jar of Ragu is cheaper that that. This little girl is going to be a chunker by the time she is 12 years old, and family cant fix the ridicule from kids at school making fun of her.

Anybody who watches this show should be ashamed of themselves. This has nothing to do with these people being "redneck, backwoods, etc.", but has everything to do with the fact that this show and the show that spawned it "Toddlers and Tiaras" are exploiting young children. Those who watch these shows are helping young girls develop physical and mental issues that stay with many of them through their lives. You can laugh at this family and others and call this entertainment and then turn off the TV and go back to your normal life. The poor children in these shows cannot. It is shameful and disgraceful that people watch this stuff for entertainment. If you like these shows so much and say nothing is wrong with how they live their lives then live your life like these people and register your young daughter in beauty pageants. Join what you call harmless fun and loving family life....don't sit and use this as entertainment though.

I think you're missing the irony of Toddlers and Tiaras. Stop gawking at the kids and actually THINK about what is being shown. The individual commentary by the moms NEVER matches what the child is actually doing. The show is not promoting kiddie pageants. It's totally mocking these women who put so much personal store in their children winning. You are supposed to come away from this show believing these children are spoiled, pushed, prodded, psychologically scarred by the pageant business. It's meant to be a freak show. Honey Boo Boo is ironic as well. Here's a family who thinks that pageants are "fun"; who never gripe about other kids winning; who keep trying regardless of their child's lack of success; who treat each pageant as a family outing in which Alana is supported - not pushed, not expected to win; who seem to have a whole lot of fun; and who are teaching their child that everyone doesn't win all the time, and that's okay. Sit back and watch a sociological experiment unfold instead of being so self-righteous and pretending that TV entertainment has anything to do with changing the world, changing the morals of America, or enlightening the masses.

i am a 70 grandmother from the northeast and absolutely love this family – i dont see any video games hooked up and i dont see any crack pipes lying around the house – they laugh a lot, have a bunch of fun – June is crazy about all her kids and the new grandbaby and sug just brings home the bacon and GOES along good naturedly – i find them to be a loving, kind family and i wish them all the luck in the world – do they have any class -no- their manners are deplorable and all they do is fart and sneeze – we all do it too just not on national TV – what a fun house to grow up in-if you look closely, the Kardashians are not the best bunch around- they h ave a lot more issues that Junes family- now lets alll sit back and see just how smart June is as she marches off to the bank0 GOOD FOR THEM!!!!

Many of the critical comments about this family sound judgmental in the way many of the upper levels of society judge the lower ranks. This show is educational and entertaining. It teaches us about a segment of our society in which we don't get to see very often. I think mama is attractive except for her forklift foot. Sugar Bear seems like a decent fella and he truly loves his family. This is quality television and it is a priviledge to be able to watch it weekly and enjoy Mama, Sugar Bear, and of course precious Boo Boo.

I think it is funny all the hatred for a family/show that people profess they would never watch. One very obvious highlite of this show is that this is a family that truly loves each other, it shows in their comfortability and interactions with each other. Maybe we can at least take that from the show and not spread so much hate.

What are the children doing so wrong that offends you? What has the mother (and Sugar Bear) done that offends you? Is it the way they talk? Is it the way they dress? Regardless of what you think about Alana and her family, they are still an American family. They seem very close and they seem to love each other very much. They put up no pretense; they are real. That is the draw for me. So what if they're rednecks. All Americans are something. This family happens to be rednecks and proud of it. Just don't watch the show and you'll be fine.
Aside from a lack of manners and a rather deplorable diet, what is so awful about this family? They make their own money; they aren't living off the government; they do things as a family; they love their children and spend lots of time with them; they laugh together; they have experiences away from TV, video games, etc.; they aren't caught up in materialism; they have chosen an "organized sport" for their child and support it whole heartedly; they teach their children how to be good sports about losing and to try hard while not being obsessed about winning. Do they have the education I have? No. Do they speak the English I speak? No. Do we share common manners? No. But all of those things are superficial. Yes, they could use a little help when it comes to a healthy diet, but the rest of their lives? What's so terrible about a woman who loves and supports and laughs with and cares for her children?

Sadly, I agree with you. As someone from another country, I have a refreshingly objective opinion of the popular TV shows that Americans watch. The American culture has been slowly circling the drain for some time now, and shows like Springer, Maury and now this redneck trash only confirm this. My condolences.
I think this is a great show. I watched it once, and it reminded me quickly that I do not EVER want to be these people. How and why would they even put this show on TV is beyond me, but i guess TV is full of trash these days, this fits right in.

Ignorance of what? The only thing this family is in ignorance of is a healthy diet. Social manners, proper grammar, materialistic things like fancy houses and designer clothes - these are the superficial things in life. Since when did it become wrong for a woman to raise children with love and caring who aspire to do nothing more than their mother has and become moms themselves? The history of America has been built on the backs of stay at home moms with high school educations. America is composed of many strata of society. This family represents the best of down home, Southern, redneck culture without displaying any real dysfunction. I personally would choose June and family over ANY of the Real Housewives to spend an afternoon with, despite the lack of manners and the odd customs. At least these people are kind and caring.

Yes, they have poor manners and live differently than most of the rest of the country. But, they are not getting drunk or doing drugs. This show is weird enough now it has a six fingered baby. But take it for what it is and if you don't like it don't watch it. There is no reason to make fun or insult the actors and cast just because you perceive them as hillbillies and rednecks. In my opinion the show is lame but it's successful for them and the hurtful statements by people indicates jealousy and envy. So give it a rest.

It is so easy NOT to watch this show. Just choose another channel. I always get a charge out of the holier than thou pitiful people who slam the South. Just because they lost the war 150 years ago when 23 states declaired war on 11 states. That ignorance shows the value of those who love to make them selves appear better by TRYING to make others look bad. By the way – Georgia citizens vote Republican. Right?
I'm very sorry to hear that. I watched for a couple minutes and it seems to be about some extremely ugly white trash family. Those people should not be glorified! And they certainly do not represent the typical southerner; they're just the trailer crowd.

This show is great. The family that is portrayed is EXACTLY what I picture when I think of the south.

Well Vince...you would be wrong. Life in the south is not EXACTLY like that. Hopefully you'll get the chance to visit some of our fine southern states at some point in your life and see why people love it here. Television has to for whatever reason find the worst of the worst to put in front of us from all over the country. Reality TV in general is awful and I would rather be sitting in a dentist's chair than watch the majority of it!
You sir are welcome to never come to the south for your vacation when you are freezing your butt of up narth. If you don't like us – too bad no one really cares what you think Vince.
I do like most of the "reality" shows on TLC, but this goes beyond anything I have ever seen. June is horribly rude and crude and gives a terrible stereotype of what southern woman are like (which I am proud to be one of). Most southern people have manners and expect their children to have the same. My parents would have taken me to the woodshed if I had ever even thought about behavior those children exhibit. I wouldn't have because my parents taught me manners and how to behave whether in public or not, but I was still allowed to be a child when it was time to be a child. Yes, most of us have accents and live a slower way of life, but the majority of us do NOT behave the way they do. We cover our mouths/noses when we cough or sneeze and would never allow ourselves to be filmed passing gas. This is the extreme end of the spectrum of how southern people live and it gives us all a bad name. Unfortunately, there are families like theirs all of the country not just in the south. Thankfully, I don't know of many people that actually live/act the way they do and I am thankful for that.
First, only an ignorant person would assume all Southern people are alike. Second, this family represents a real part of the American fabric of diversity. I think what draws people in is the fact they do not apologize for who they are. People who think they are out there do not know America. I suspect there are more families like this one than the snobs who attack them. Although I will say the granddaughter being born with two thumbs on one hand tells me there may be environmental problems in and around their home. This does concern me for the safety of the family. I am glad a real average Joe family is being profiled. The snobs do not have to watch.
Heaven help us if this is the 'average joe'....I don't know ANY people that live or act like this...and for that, I am very grateful...plus it tells me this isn't the 'average joe'. I have lived in a number of different states, and towns in my life and rarely have I run into people like this. I wish I understood what the fascination is about this show that is drawing so many people. If they really were the average family in America, no one would watch it because it would be too common. Reality shows are about ALWAYS about the uncommon and different.
Do they ever have a shown about a regular married couple raising 2 normal kids and no one has one thing outstanding about them? No handicaps to overcome, no dozen or more children to raise, nothing out of the norm about the parents either? Of course not! That would be too normal and everyday and no one would watch it...:/ They always have shows about the extreme and different...so I don't believe for one minute this family is the average joe....nor will I ever think all southern people are like this either. I think people watch it because its SO drastically different from anything they see in their everyday life.
