Lil Wayne is now the solo artist king of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, knocking The King of Rock and Roll out of the top spot.
Billboard reports that the rapper has tallied 109 hits on the Hot 100, setting a new standard - and surpassing the record previously held by Elvis Presley.
Since the chart's start in 1958 through 2003, Presley racked up 108 entries on the Hot 100.
But thanks to Weezy's appearance alongside Chris Brown, Tyga and Wiz Khalifa on The Game's "Celebration," which is cruising at No. 82 on the chart, the Young Money/Cash Money talent is the new solo artist to beat.
While Wayne holds the top spot for a solo act with the most entries on the Hot 100, the "Glee" crew as a unit has amassed 204 entries on the chart.
We suppose that's just one more goal for Weezy to reach for.
Thanks for some other fantastic article. Where else may anyone get that kind of info in such a perfect method of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I'm on the search for such info.

Add parallelPsalm 23
King James Version (KJV)
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over
Lil Wayne wouldn't know music if he was listening to it.... He's certainly not singing any!
lol! That's why it's called RAP – because they are NOT singing!
One thing Elvis could do that Lil Wayne never will be able to do is swim.
And being white.
Elvis was really good at being white.
That ugly black dude in the picture above is not very good at being white.
Actually, Weeze is a good swimmer. Nice try at the racist joke – NOT!
I've been surfing online greater than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It's lovely worth sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the web can be a lot more useful than ever before.
And then music died of super-AIDS.
these guys are bad...xo.
Not true. Until he is the SOLE person on 109 singles, he has NOT broken any record.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

ABOUT SOMEBODY BEING BROKE? BETTER BE OFF THAT LIST TOO
King James Version (KJV)
For The Religious
The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not want
He maketh me to lie down
In green pastures
He leadeth me beside the still waters
Oh, He restores my soul
He restores my soul
Thank you, Lord
I wanna thank you
He leadeth me in the path of righteousness
Even for His name's sake
Yeah, though I walk through valley of shadow of death
I will fear no evil for Thou art with me
Thy rod and Thy staff and You comfort me
And You comfort me
He prepareth a table before me

And my cup overflows
Surely goodness and mercy
Shall follow me all the days of my life
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever and ever, forever and ever
Amen, amen, amen
Prince of peace
A lot of this Trash today does not count or matter. Elvis and the Beatles, etc, were about Music. These people today would not even make it AT ALL back in their day. Something to do with TALENT. CON ARTISTS are not Artists.
ABOUT SOMEBODY BEING BROKE? BETTER OF THAT LIST TOO
Well tell that to the banks where these talentless con artists stash their millions at! We all know you don't have to be a great singer to be a successful recording artist. There are many recording artists who can't sing their way out of a paper bag but that hasn't stopped them from making millions of dollars, has it?

Hey Bemused, I see you did your homework and research I think with maturity and knowledge Chuck D saw what Elvis was about, said and really did. Knowledge is in a book and not what you heard some say from someone else. I don't think you can find anyone today that can sing rock-n-role, country, R&B and gospel they way Elvis did. If people did there due diligence they would find that Elvis respected black singer and his favorite and friends were Jackie Wilson and James Brown in fact he called Fats Domino the King. Remember when people kept saying that the world is flat and everyone believed that, it's the same thing people believe what they want to and without the facts. I'm glad that I know how to read and do research before I think the wrong thing about Elvis, MLK and Jesus. OMG fact or fiction was Hitler a great leader, yes evil and twisted as he was he did lead millions so yes he was a great leader, leader of evil. More people should read and research first before their comments.
Hello my baby, hello my darlin', hello my Ragtime gal... I needs me some collard greens.
Mighty good shepherd
I love you, Lord
MusicMan, you are right on with your knowledge on Elvis. There was once a quote attributed to Elvis that would have been racist if he had said it, but it's been clearly shown that he didn't, and that it was the opposite of the way he actually acted, which was with respect and openness to all. Sounds like I'm an Elvis fan, but I'm actually not, it's just the truth of musicians in that time. Buddy Holly had Little Richard over to his parents' place for dinner. Elvis took from black gospel and other sources, while Chuck Berry took from white rockabilly–that's "stealing" music, it's listening and getting into the music of the time. Music has always been a culture where whites and blacks respect each other; it's the music BUSINESS where the exploitation and racism was, the record and publishing companies. Rant ends....now.
meant to say..."that's NOT stealing..."
i'll meet you there ever wed.
rap is a way of expression, alot of kids like it today thats fine if parents approve it....elvis is someone who will be remember generations after generations..that's another christmas cd we play at holiday time..summertime bbq's its usually elvis's blue hawaii cd..lol
Lordy-Lord, I always knew my li'l chile could gets hisself a hit record!
I do enjoy all music including Hip-Hop. But this here is kind of upsetting. Lil' Wayne makes a lot of "Guest Apperances" on other artist songs and they count that towards his solo record?? Elvis broke the record by releasing his own songs not appearing with other artist.
True That!!! hes not even among the top best rappers in my list
regblog it again
It's a shame some people have a need to believe the worst about Elvis. Frankly, you get tired of fighting ignorance all the time. I mean, you can quote historical sources that definitively prove he never said the "shine my shoes" quote; you can point to interviews on Y o u T u b e with black musicians like Chuck Berry, Little RIchard, Al Green, James Brown, Stevie Wonder and BB King who respected Elvis' huge talent; you can link to articles in which Chuck D reversed his stance on Elvis years after recording "Fight the Power". You can do all that and still have ignorant d!ckh3ads like Big Shiz who just want to tear a good man down because they've been indoctrinated to believe a myth.
I used to try to enlighten. Now I just say the heck with it, put my headphones on to block out the noise and play another Elvis tune. BTW, this isn't anything against rap, I enjoy most rap but Weezy's a loser.
Look at all of those obama voters. America is a great country. Only in America can a seventy IQ degenerate compulsive simian ree tard become a millionaire.
Ahh, Lil' Wayne became a millionaire when Bush was in office. His career actually started off when Bush was president. How's this have anything to do with Obama???
Don't even like the guy, but yeah it is great when someone has way more money than you ever will, makes me smile thinking of your anger
Hey Sokman, yes I'm a hippy from the time where Sam Cooke and Otis Redding wrote music about meaning and purpose note about putting woman down, do you have a problem with musis like that?
So, basically, you're admitting that you're g@y.
Actually you would be the g@y one since you listen to music that would degrade and out women down. Funny how it works out for ya.
Enjoy your boyfriend.
reblogged to the tavissmileyshow
I do not recognize this, and this person does not make music. It is garbage.
This is nothing but an insult to REAL music and what it is supposed to stand for...thats all im going to say
Ugly sum bittch he is.....
Since he made over 4000 "songs" into discs and mp3, until now, it´s normal that he had so much on the top100.
Remember that in 2006 the guy made 14 cds on that year... 14 cds!!! so only on that year he had 10 to 12 music on that table. Not to talk that his editor pays a great number to all the radios and tvs to get the musics on the top of there lists.
Elvis didn´t had that for him... even now his musics are only on the nostalgic radios...
I don't understand the trend of shaving down apes, putting shiny teeth on them and putting them on stage! What's with kids these days? Lol!
I hope that in the years to come my children aren't this childish in their thinking about people know matter what the color their skin is. I hope that with all the problems that are in the world people would focus on more important things than who broke what record. I like Elvis and Lil Wayne but remember IT'S JUST MUSIC!!! LOL
Baltimore? As in Mary Land? As in the Land where all Mary's come from? You sure sound like a g@y, liberal, tree-huggin' hippy to me!
Fk u and your house. Not a defense . . . Pure truth. elvis was a straight up malungen racist. Gdub glenn
No Elvis was NOT a racist! It took Elvis being dead 35 years before anyone could break the record. Congrats to Weezy though. Whoever he is.
Wow it's still so sad that people write such evil things, it shouldn't be about black or white it's just music and if you like it so what. Did you know that Elvis and James Brown were friends. People don't steal music they just record or re-record something that they like. Don't get so upset about who broke what record, records are made to be broken just enjoy the music!!! I don't think Elvis or Lil Wayne would be as upset as most people that are writing and be saden by most remarks. SMH
Colored people are good for one thing and one thing only - cleaning my house.
bigot. I'm sure there's a white cloak hanging in your closet too...
throw her out of bed.
this is not even suppose to print on cnn. she's bzy correcting everyone ON what they should be doing–

N*ggers cant read?. Not what your mother said last night. Rick james ripped off the george clinton/bootsy collins/bernie worrell sound and look. He's not on the same planet as james brown. Elvis was a racist. He's the king 2 white people. 2 each his own. 2 those who dont like rap/hip hop . . . U sure have a lot of anger in u. Fk off. Gdub glenn
America is a disgraceful country.
I guess the only problem with this 'modern age claim' is that Elvis produced real music. REAL rock n roll, REAL blues, etc etc. Put a guitar in Lil Wayne's hands and see if he could duplicate what Elvis did on the guitar in his late 60s comeback special. There IS a reason why Elvis is considered the king. It has to do with the fact that he was a complete musician. He understood the entire concept of it, and played real music, unlike the crud permeating the airwaves today. So, no Lil Wayne, you've set no records... that is unless you think cranking out formulaic crud is some kind of attribute.
I'm a musician and while I can't stand rap and hip hop I disagree that it's not music. It has words, lyrics, beat, tempo, timing, etc. Rap is a form of musical expression that's raw and mostly disturbing to me, but just because I don't like it doesn't mean it isn't a valid form of music. Hip hop is cool, I'm just not in the age demographic for it.
No way Lil Wayne tops Elvis per capita and I wish they would include that in their calculation. In my opinion, they should call it "Solo Artist King of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts (featuring Lil' Wayne)" given that most of his songs weren't his own singles. Using that math the Jordanairres would have to hold the #3 spot.
Doesn't mean as much as it used to.
white men cant jump, black men cant read.. Wonder why n-ggers account for the majority of incarcerated inmates? Because stupid a– n-ggers are always commiting stupid a-s crimes.
Trolling's fun, huh?
Real easy to talk and act tough when your typing on a keyboard......every racist in America can easily find the predominantly black neighborhoods in any major city in this country so it you have something you need to get off you chest go there, find a group of black guys and then see how tough you really are!
FIrst it was shocking there weren't many n-ggers posting on here but it hit me...95% of n-ggers cant read
You have an issue. Now for making the comments that made made you sound like a n!gger which is an ignorant person. Also, maybe people to respond to your comments is because they didn't want to stoop down to your level. I hope and pray that you were joking because making those comments makes you look stupid and childish. Yes blacks make up most of the jail and prison population and its no one to blame but themselves. And anyone can commit a petty crime its about having the resources that can keep you from being behind bars.
Elvis didn't steal anything. He merely recorded songs he liked. He didn't care where the songs came from. If it sounded good to his ear, record it. If anything, Elvis helped bring the black music to the forefront. Elvis had one of the most remarkable voices in music. He could sing everywhere from the high notes to the low notes. The rules have changed for music to get on the charts today. A lot of Elvis' biggest hits were recorded before sales records were even kept.
Every thing he learned he got from black folks. And then seid they whernt sh it. Thats the same as stealing to me
But it's not true. All those quotes and "facts" about Elvis being racist against blacks are all made up.
There not made up he seid that sh it on the radio. Once again look it up
And honestly, your definition of someone "stealing" music vs. influence is off base too. So a white musician can't show any influence of the music that they like JUST because they happen to really like "black music"? Isn't that a little racist? Singers like Roger Daltrey of The Who, Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne cite singers like Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin as major influences because when they were kids, those were the only singers out there who knew how to sing. Does that make them racist? Eminem MUST be a racist for rapping like a black dude, right? You're painting with a very broad brush.
So I keep looking it up and is says the same things:
* He apparently said it in Boston...a city he had never been in at the time.
* He apparently said it on a TV show that he never appeared on.
* JET Magazine investigated it and didn't find any evidence.
* Many black people came to his defense saying that it wasn't like Elvis at all to say that. When he was a kid, he was often the only white kid around listening. He was friends with everyone from James Brown to Sammy Davis, Jr.
I'm finding this on snopes.com and many other websites and not finding anything that supports what you're saying. The Internet must be racist. So unless you have the actual clip on yourself to link to, go "look it up" yourself and see that you're mistaken.
Big Shiz you're obviously wrong. Elvis recorded songs by white blues artists, white country artists, white gospel artists etc etc. Yes he did black's songs, but that was just part of his repertoire. Do research, THEN comment. OK?
Wow! The ignorance that I'm seen on this page is incomprehenssible. You people that have a problem with another type of music such as hip hop are simply closed minded and culturally challenged americans. Elvis was a racist. Still, I won't doubt the man's contribution to music. You can't do that to Lil Wayne either even though a lot of his songs are pure garbage.
Not only has the music turned to crap, but the fans have as well.
COMPARING THIS rap Artist with Elvis
is like saying lead is as valuable as Gold.....thank ya very much...
I'm sorry but if you think Elvis Presley stole from black musicians, you must have never heard of Pat Boone.
Its a fact, pat stole too. They wouldnt let black music out back then other than blues and gospel, black musicans started playing blues sped up and white radio called it the devils music.so in walks pat and elvis and a few others and america loved it. Little richard predates both of them.look it up
You're not getting what I'm saying, Big Shiz. There's a difference between a thief and a fan.
Pat Boone based his living off his covers of R&B hits to make it more "palatable" to white idiots. You have that correct. But Elvis grew up a fan of R&B. That Elvis quote you keep citing. If you bothered to look it up, you'd know that the "black people only shine my shoes" comment was made up because some idiots just couldn't accept a white guy liking black music. Elvis wasn't a racist against black people - he was a fan geek for R&B.
your not getting what im saying. Elvis was racist,he cowed down to the southren good old boys cuz he was a bitc h. Why dont you look that sh it up. You love elvis but that dosnt change the fact he learned every thing he knew about music from black people and then turned on them.
Lil Wayne rightfully passed the record of Elvis and Obama earned the Nobel Peace Prize. Like the honor roll, all you have to do is show up to earn awards these days. The days of true talent and brilliance have been destroyed. How insulting...
109 "hits" and I can't name one.
I was gonna say the same thing.
I definitely thought of Wheezy Waiter when I first saw the link!
This is great! Little Wayne is a great singer and I knew he would bypass Elvin one day! May the good lord bless him in his accomplishments by the virtuosity of his arrangements in the episcopal side of the latter suggested comments!
is with her girfriends at the bar at applebees–home in 1 hr.
dude...just ask–nite nite.
Big Shiz, From listening to you I can see you know nothing of James Brown. Elvis never claimed to create rock n roll you idiot. Go to school you might learn someting. Yeah James Brown was the man but lil wayne isn't
Are you joking,i grew up on the big payback, make it funky,i got soul.elvis seid black people wernt even good enough to shine his shoes after he stole every thing he had in music from the southren black community.
I dont like little wayne.im here cuz im sick of all the racist hip hop hating comments.
There's an infestation of juggalos on a bridge near where I live. We call them bridge juggalos. What they do is one waits on one side of the bridge, and tells you there's a toll to cross the bridge. If you turn around and go back to the other side, which takes about 15
minutes you get jumped by a half dozen of them. The best option is to threaten the toll juggalo with a weapon to get past him.
Y'all stupid ass worry'n about the wrong thing Wayne been doing his thing since his teen days &'d yeah he black w/ alot of talent &'d y'all seem like y'all mad he gett'n his paper so y'all need to get y'all paper up worry'n about the wrong thing &'d yup I'm ah' New Orleans Fee I'm not just say'n that because me &'d him from the same city , but Happy Birthday Wayne btw . :)
is this one sentence or do you just not use periods?
music is so bad now tht country music is more popular so I don't listen to any of todays artist I go online and look for some real musicians and artist !!
This is great! Little Wayne is a great singer and I knew he would bypass Elvin one day! May the good lord bless him in his accomplishments by the virtuosity of his arrangements in the episcopal side of the latter suggested comments!
Interesting article. I'm going to take a poop now.
Well if this isn't a sign of the decline of the U.S., I don't know what is. Lil Wayne...really people??
luv it here
I B'k lyn ghetto, one time Gangter & rap is grap. the music was suppose 2 give society a look at the real world in the mean streets not to put our women down or to glorify murder. now the problem r worst and RAP NEED TO TAKE THE RAP FOR IT.
It's only because his name is listed as a 'featured artist' on so many other 'songs' with equally talentless rappers. (Ever notice rap and hip-hop have SOOO many more 'featured' artists than real music?) Elvis had backup singers and did a few duets, but he was never an 'also-sang'. Sucks to hold a 'record' with an asterisk by your name.
My Rick James could kick your James Brown's a$s be-yotch
Thanks for making me laugh.(i mean that)
Lil Wayne certainly has made his accomplishments as a rapper, but I would definitely put an asterisk next to this "surpassing" of Elvis the King and his record. Remember, most of Elvis' top hits were chartbusters when he was still alive. This was when there was no iTunes, no internet, fewer music artists, and much of his music hadn't got to various countries yet. While Lil W2ayne may have numerically surpassed Elvis Presley, Elvis the King accomplished MORE per capita.
Rap is not music. Feel free to retract the article at any time. The fact that spoken rhyming word/profanity and synthetic precussion can possibly entertain anyone is a testament to the de-evolution of society. Soon we will be repeating meaningless sayings to invisible deities, oh wait we already are. Nothing else needs to be said.
Just remember every time you listen to your rock and roll that black people created that. Bitc h
@ big shiz: honestly dude get a grip. This guy said that rap is not real music, he never said anything about black people. He says using rhymes/ profanity is not music or maybe you're the one that associates profanity with blacks. Don't get me wrong he's an idiot as well for talking nonsense about God but, nobody's perfect.
Fuk elvis,he stole his music from black rock and roll artists.black people created rock and roll.little richard, fats domino, chuck berry.all those records elvis broke belong to the black music community of the 50's
Wayne is God bless
It's too bad most people won't remember his music. I can't even name one song he raps. I can name quite a few Elvis songs.
Also, I'm 34 so Elvis was before my time.
I must be showing my age. I don't know a single Weezy song.
It's nice that George is letting her have a music career, though.
I literally just busted out laughing at this response! Best one here.
HA! Thanks for the laugh! Elvis will always be #1 no matter how many of these so called "artists" surpass him.
Yeah, but only 40 of those songs are actually Lil' Wayne songs. The rest are someone else's songs he rapped on. Add in Elvis '56 hits and it's not even close baby. I bet if you get the Elvis estate to release a bunch of alternative mixes of Elvis' stuff, he would leave Lil' rapper in the dust.
So is this based on the fact that Lil Wayne has to have a few verses in every rap song he can these days? Being the main artist is a completely different story from appearing as a special guest on a track. If its not based on song where he is the main artist I don't believe it should count.
Well, I think we can all agree that what passes as 'music' today is different than what passed as music 10 years ago
Popular music has become a joke these days
And this story proves it
Its not about wether or not rap is music or not or what words he chooses to use. Like a few others stated, and its my opinion as well, most rap,hip hop and r/b songs are this artist featuring that artist. Elvis stood alone but for his back up musicians. Back in the day you maybe had a crew like RUN DMC, ERIC B AND RAKIM, THE FAT BOYS,etc, but that was a set crew not a "feature". Very few modern rappers have the raw talent and skill to acheive this solo. Its just different.
The roots, talib kwelli, gift of gab, zion I,common, mos def, killer mike. To name a few who great hip hop music right now. The best music is not pop music, and that go's for all music types.
Great response, Shiz. If your knowledge of the English language was equal to your knowledge of hip-hop, you might have been able to spell more words correctly, and more of use would have understood you. Ah well, that was not to be ... but I'm glad to see you have your priorities in order. PS: Better learn to speak Chinese.
it dosnt matter if a word or two is spelled wrong. What matters is whats seid. And every time someone want to take away whats seid they look for some excuse like spelling.if you have a problem with rap go some where else. Bitc h
No one will or can, ever surpass Elvis in the hearts of the world.
Bullshi t ,james brown bitc h
Sorry Big Shiz but Rap is CRAP...always has been always will be... it's for people like you who aspire to be rich and famous with absolutely no talent
if you want to see no talent just take a look at your self.hip hop is a type of music.there are all types of hip hop.i think.the only reason you dont like it is becuse its very black and you dont understand black people.by the way james brown is old school soul. Bitc h
I was never a big fan of Lil Wayne. I cared less for him after he made disparaging remarks about Michael Jackson when he passed.
Lil Wayne is a d-bag, the charts should b for musicians not d-bags
RAP is CRAP
Your just man cuz he's a black man with way more money than yall. Plus he could fuk your women.
I could care less how much money he has and how many women he has....as a professional musician I can state my opinion that RAP is CRAP .... it's just running off at the mouth about subjects of no real importance in ...with generally no melody. by a bunch of posers.. over some drum groove. The whole RAP subculture makes me want to vomit
As a professional musican I can say your not a professionl at all.real hip hop is intellgent soulfull and real.if you where any type of real musican at all you would know that.your a ignorent racist idoit.
Not sure how a guy who uses the N1gga word over and over again can get so many 'hit' songs. Too many of them just sound like sh1t too.
Talk about an entry needing an asterisk next to it. How many of this artists "songs" are simply him being listed as a "featured" artist? On another note, what percentage of the population do you think could name even 20 of these songs?
Right, he's always been a "feat. Lil' Wayne" artist. He has very fit hits under his belt as an actual solo artist.
Rap is crap. Why let these felony or bad for society make million
Were I you, I would check my own poor grammar before calling anything else "crap."
Using "were I you" in a sentence about bad grammar.
Actual, "were I" is grammatically correct–it's in the subjunctive mood.
correct maybe. awkward definitely
"if I were you" would have been better
Or "were I you, I would have checked...."
But whatever. I still win because he's awful and you're defending him.
Rap is CRAP... it's a bunch of posers spewing garbage over a highly produced track.... it does not even qualify as music
What is this world coming to????
Jut goes to show how pathetic peoples taste in music has become.
Elvis records were as a solo artist . Lit Wayne has been on other artists record – just stated the facts !!!
Elvis was ripped off. As it says in the story, the Billboard Hot 100 started in 1958. Elvis had a ton of hits in 1956 and 1957.
He's the one who ripped off his music
Wow....that is one ugly dude!
