The awkward VMAs moment you were hoping for has been avoided

While even host Kevin Hart was hoping that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would end up in the same room together at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards, it's not going to happen.

Stewart's rep tells us that the 22-year-old actress will be on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival tonight supporting the screening of her film, "On the Road."

Pattinson, meanwhile, will be left to introduce a clip from his upcoming movie with Stewart, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" with his other co-star, Taylor Lautner.

Well, so much for that. But as Hart told us earlier this week, this is the VMAs - the one thing you should expect is the unexpected. What are you hoping to see tonight? The fun begins with a red carpet pre-show at 7 p.m. ET.
