Randy Jackson and 'Idol' - what's the deal?We've been light on the never-ending "American Idol" rumors this week, so here's a freshly spun one to tide everyone over: Randy Jackson is said to be out as a judge on "American Idol," according to TMZ. The speculation of what's to come for Jackson has been persistent since Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez sung their swan songs earlier this summer, but it's intensified as a growing list of possible "Idol" judges has bounced around the Web. When Mariah Carey was confirmed as the newest "Idol" judge, some loose-lipped sources starting whispering to a few outlets that Jackson would possibly transition from being a judge to being a mentor. TMZ says that it's officially the case, but (still) no word from Fox.

But are they forcing him to transition or is he choosing to transition? We'll probably never know the truth (I'm sure Randy will keep mum because he's classy) but Im curious. I think if Fox is getting rid of him, they're crazy. What ever happened to loyalty? The show will sink if he isn't a judge. It's like replacing the whole cast of a sitcom. Doesn't work. You can replace a few people, but not everyone!
They need to bring back Simon and woo Paula back too, then it won't matter who's sitting next to them.
Even though ratings have slipped in recent years, it still garners more advertising dollars than any other show so I doubt very much they will end it.

I am tired of America Idol. It has lost it's luster every since the shifting of judges began. Time to produce a new show bit before you do please take America's Next Top model away too. Whew! There. I said it.

If Randy is being let go; then that's it for me. I'm not watching a show with a bunch of young people judging. They haven't been around long enough to know the ins and outs of music, the sounds, notes, lyrics etc. That show needs to stick to what have kept them on the air for all these years. RIP Idol.

Randy Jackson ought to leave with his grace and dignity intact. While others came and went, he stayed tough. Its time for the show to end anyway.

I stopped watching tv years ago because of shows like this. I don't see the appeal in it. Its like each season from what I hear the ratings drop and the talent is more generic and lacking any originality. People are afraid to think outside the box artistically.

The show is almost dead.Place focus a lot more on the music ,and a lot less on the judges who are overpaid for their drivel.The voting system is seriously flawed and that is why idol is loaded with flops and contestants who's popularity is about as long as the lifespan of a house fly.

So you think the show needs two chit kickin' rednecks and a switch hitter as judges? Sorry baby, but most of Amerika ain't down with that sorry assed country garbage music. You might like to listen to Toby Keith while you clean the trailer, but that sheet is straight up booty whack. As for Elton, I don't really have a problem with him, but there is no way in hell he would waste his time hanging out with those two losers. Word is bond, girl, this is how it needs to play out: Fuq dat 3 judge system, I think they need at least 5 judges. Chet Haze, Robbie Van Winkle, Captain and Teneille and Mel Torme's widow.

This show needs to end. Its run its course. Toss out all those music talent shows too. Its all about the judges and not the "new found talent" anyway. The judges should just have their own talk show so they can just admire themselves in front of a large studio audience. (its what they want to do anyway)
