Ahead of the Curve: Weekly pop culture calendar

If you’re a sucker for Western dramas or demonic horror flicks, the movie theater will be calling your name come Friday.

Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy play bootleggers in John Hillcoat’s “Lawless,” while “The Closer’s” Kyra Sedgwick stars in “The Possession,” the story of a young girl cursed by an "ancient spirit."

Here’s what else you shouldn’t miss this week:

Monday

  • Isla Fisher drops by “Conan” to chat about her new flick “Bachelorette” – to hit theaters September 6. We doubt Chris Harrison will show up in the comedy, but we’re looking forward to seeing Rebel Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan together.

Tuesday

  • Alanis Morissette’s “Havoc and Bright Lights” debuts today.
  • Have you recently finished reading “Fifty Shades of Grey”? Pick up “Darkest Desire,” an erotic novel by Tawny Taylor.
  • Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen will perform on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
  • Garrett's murder trial begins on an all new episode of “Pretty Little Liars” tonight on ABC Family at 8 p.m. ET.
  • Or tune into “Masterchef” on Fox at 8 p.m. ET to watch the remaining contestant recreate a dish once served to President Obama.

Wednesday

  • The eight remaining dancers perform on “So You Think You Can Dance” tonight on Fox at 8 p.m. ET.
  • “Sparkle” star Jordin Sparks will chat with Jimmy Kimmel tonight.
  • Meanwhile, Tristan Prettyman, whose new album “Cedar+Gold” is due out this fall, will serenade Jay Leno.
  • If you missed Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen on “Leno” Tuesday, catch their performance on “Conan” tonight.

Thursday

  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt and “Bachelorette’s” Rebel Wilson will pay a visit to Kimmel tonight.
  • Leno will chat with Savannah Guthrie and Dolph Lundgren.

Friday

  • Head to the theater to see “Lawless” or “The Possession.”
  • Or, if you’d rather spend time with your TV, tune in to ABC Family at 5 p.m. for an evening with Lindsay Lohan. “Freaky Friday” starts at 5 p.m. ET, followed by “Mean Girls” at 7 p.m. ET.

"Or tune into “Masterchef” on Fox at 8 p.m. ET to watch the remaining contestant recreate a dish once served to President Obama." – that was the episode 2 weeks ago! Doubt they'll do that again!
