Mayim Bialik recovering after car accidentUpdate: Mayim Bialick assured fans via Twitter on Thursday that she's doing well, and has already returned to work on "The Big Bang Theory": "How much do I get love and support from the big [sic] band cast and crew? I went to work today ... doing ok. Grateful. And tired." She followed up on Friday, writing, "Nerve block: good. Nerve block wearing off: not good. Natural childbirth: manageable and profound. This: meh." Actress Mayim Bialik seems to be in good spirits after being involved in a car accident on Wednesday. “In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna See pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol,” she tweeted, noting that her husband had to the type the message for her. Bialik, who currently appears on “The Big Bang Theory” as Amy Farrah Fowler, was rushed to the hospital after the white Volvo she was driving collided with another vehicle on Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, according to a statement Los Angeles Police Lt. Andrew Neiman gave the Los Angeles Times. The former “Blossom” star suffered “severe lacerations to her right hand and thumb,” Neiman added. Tell us, Mayim Bialik: What's next for you? kids have to learn to get in their own bed. once in awhile its fine. my family has trainedsher 5 yr old twins to go to bed, they get up go to the bathroom wash their hands, drink water and go back their bed....their mom and dad get up to see if they are ok and back in bed they go. they can come in bed for morning hugs, sickness but most of the time she said they are trained to go to their own bed. they are now trained to clean up their toys and put them away, they are learning how to make their beds...they have to say hello to everyone and kiss all family members...she's a little strict but thats the way we grew up.

i'm a teacher, i can't wait to head back to school...i took 3 classes this summer with my husband of 22 years and 2 grown kids it was tough but i was so productive...now i'm going for my doctrine in education at 50 years old. what did you do this summer.

If you do not obtain a tighter hold upon the steering wheel in anticipation of having to maintain the increased slippage that will occur due to the laws of physics, that will happen from the sudden left or right turning of the steering wheel in order to avoid a collision, then YOU do not belong behind the wheel. I had a field service job for 12 years that required me to drive 100K to 130K miles in the metro Detroit area. Never had an accident despite many poor drivers nearly causing one.

Refreshing to have a "celebrity" driving a Volvo instead of some million dollar exotic ride. Everything I've read about her protrays her to be a practical, intelligent woman who chose the role on Big Bang because she could actually use her education to contribute to the excellent writing on the show, and give her character more authenticity. That's most likely because a Volvo is the only car she can afford, she's not exactly a huge star or household name. She's a minor celebrity. Besides, Volvo's are not all cheap, some of them are still over 60 grand.
BLOSSOM made her wealthy and set for life. THE BIG BANG THEORY is whipped cream on the top of her delicious life. She can afford whatever she wants and no doubt chose a Volvo because they're safe and crash-worthy.

It was a relatively minor accident, but she was shredded up pretty bad. Placing your hand over a device that is about to detonate may be a poor design location for a horn? Ford used to have a band around the steering wheel that activated the horn. Worked great. You tense up and grip the wheel, and the horn instantly sounds.
If you panic like that and "tense up" then you probably should never have been behind the wheel in the first place....

If you do not obtain a tighter hold upon the steering wheel in anticipation of having to maintain the increased slippage that will occur due to the laws of physics, that will happen from the sudden left or right turning of the steering wheel in order to avoid a collision, then YOU do not belong behind the wheel. I had a field service job for 12 years that required me to drive 100K to 130K miles in the metro Detroit area. Never had an accident despite many poor drivers nearly causing one.

Folks – Because of the comments, I spent a couple of minutes looking for info on the accident. Based on the LA Times blog, it sounds like the other vehicle turned in front of her. Her hand was injured by airbag deployment. Nothing was said about the occupants of teh other vehicle.
I hope she gets better – BBT makes me laugh, and as a PhD in chemistry myself, I understand what it takes to get a doctorate. For my program, it meant 16 hour days in the lab 6 – 7 days per week at little pay. I suspect she was in the same boat.....

Why in the world would anyone pass up the opportunity to make in a few weeks what they would make in a whole year working in research or academia? Now she has the opportunity to do something else that she enjoys and is good at and can make a lot of money for her and her families future.
Also, the amount of money and number of jobs that are generated by the entertainment industry is probably far greater than neuroscience. Does that speak well for our society, probably not but it's reality.

There are countless scenarios for any part of you body to become injured in any countless car accidents. Since no two are the same, the idea that you would only see one type of injury is absurd. Hand injury in actually common because of the driver's airbag in the steering wheel. In addition, if she was hit on the driver's side of the car then it is pretty easy to see how her left hand could become injured.
