Taylor Swift, the country-pop princess of confessional lyrics, has started a new round of speculation with her latest single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
The 22-year-old Grammy-winner revealed the track while hosting a Web chat on Monday, and admitted that this one's dedicated to an old flame.
"This is, like, a really, really romantic song ... a really romantic song to my lovely ex-boyfriend," Swift deadpanned.
We're not sure which ex-guy Swift's singing this to, but he may want to find some Ben & Jerry's before listening in - Swift makes it simplistically clear that they're not getting back together, "like, ever."
Entertainment Weekly pegs the single as "an earworm," albeit one of the more "juvenile" variety, particularly compared to the songs Swift crafted for her 2010 album "Speak Now."
We'll see if "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is part of a larger theme when Swift's upcoming effort, "Red," arrives October 22. She revealed during the Web chat that "Red" will boast 16 songs, including one with Brit favorite Ed Sheeran.
It's a shame a 22 year old is still writing songs like a 15 year old. Poor Taylor, you're so hard done by aren't you .... next
her image will change soon and will grow up.
I think her new song is just awful. It's time to grow out of the teeny bopper songs and move forward.
She has some nice hair. I'm not sure who fixes hers but it is nice and accentuates her soft features.
Stewart is so tiny, does this make him the wise asss he is?
she got all of her fame because teen girls buy her music, I've never understood why she's considered a great artist because she's not, her music is juvenile, lame and sounds the same all the time, she has released 3 albums and all talk about one concept, and her singing isn't that great
she's a pretty young gal and she's seemgs generally sweet but her songs are too goofy even for me!
As a huge Taylor Swift fan I am more than a bit bummed out by this song. I love her first album where her sound is pure country, and although "Speak Now" and "Sparks Fly" are more pop her lyrics make up for it. This is a completely different sound than I have grown accustom to hear from Taylor Swift, and without the strength of her normal lyrics it fits right in on pop radio.
What age group is she aiming this song at? Sounds like something teenagers would like. The song is a little juvenile for a 22 year old. Just my opinion, though.
Very juvenile, sounds like its target audience is the "tweens"...not my cup of tea. But, the girl has obviously done something right, and she probably isn't too concerned about me not liking her tunes.
I'm all out of ice cream, but I got a popsicle stick for her.
I heard the song this morning on the radio. It was AWFUL. And why do the DJs always these new songs are good?!?!
should be "...always say these..."
Because they are payed for that.
Or you think that pop djs are always saying that rap, hip-hop and things that think that its music, are always great albuns?
50 cents team pays over 600 million to djs and radio hosts, for them to promote his albuns.... So you think that somebody that is getting payed will say that it´s a bad album? They are payed to say that is a great music... even if they hate it.
