James Franco to write column for PlayboyActor James Franco is adding yet another line to his resume: magazine columnist. According to the New York Post, the “127 Hours” star will set aside some of his other rolling obligations as a graduate student, actor, director and performance artist to pen a column each month for ... drumroll please .... Playboy!
The “Francofile,” as it'll be called, debuts in the famous magazine starting this month. The actor - who, not-so-coincidentally, plays Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in the recently wrapped movie “Lovelace" - has already written his first piece for the pub. It's a Q&A with Marina Abramovic that appears in the July/August issue. The column is said to explore the issues of “space, energy and magic,” and is one of six columns he’ll write for the publication. But don’t worry, fans, writing won’t consume him: Franco is also slated to star in the upcoming film “Spring Breakers” with Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez, among several others.

I still don't get how he bombed the Oscars. He's an actor, right? He couldn't even deliver a joke well that night. It's hard to take him seriously after that disaster. Whoever mentioned this is right–he really does have a good PR team. Why do we need to hear about every job he does?? Next it'll be a celebrity park ranger at Yellowstone. Whoopee!!
Now that he has a second job he can afford some Proactive.

He ruined the oscars a few years back...and he's still getting gigs...once your picked by Hollywood to be a star the public is sentenced to a life sentence with this person..whoopi gold berg,rosy,etc,etc..no talent and we're stuck with them for life...Chelsea handler, will smith and his family,Tommy lee jones has no talent...
The guy's name is Franco... For real? What's next week – an article about an actor named Mussolini?
I get a laugh out of some of these public figures who claim to earn graduate degrees (Franco, Shaq, etc). If you read any accounts of what they have actually done it is laughable – a handful of classes (many of which are missed "due to schedules" or are taken "remotely", no thesis, etc). It is clearly only a PR stunt for the schools in the hope of getting their name in the paper. However it is a mockery of what the real graduate students go through and threfore disrespectful to the people that do but the time and work into an advanced degress.
Can't wait to see “Spring Breakers.”
I like James Franco. When his talents are given the chance to be nurtured this man can definitely can act. When he is given ONE take on something this man is worse than a runway model given an acting gig SOLELY based on looks and abs. He is horrible. Anyone with access to YOUTUBE can watch clips of his horrendous performance on the daytime soap General Hospital or probably this new nighttime gig on Hollywood Heights.
He has great PR because EVERYTHING he does seems to get press and made to seem like "WOW, WHAT CAN"T THIS GUY DO?". If paid handsomely many of us could do what he is doing. If we have a driver or even the luxury of time and a famous name, any one of us could take a 2 hour class at 2 universities in 2 states at the same time (although hours and days apart for each class).
Kudos for the new job, but come on, it may be the entertainment section of CNN, but isn't there a celebrity helping some unfortunate soul or doing some good for others or an animal that CNN could report on?!!! Something that could motivate someone to do the same?
Sounds like Branden is jealous. Franco is hella smart, a decent actor and undoubtedly better looking than him. You wish you had a Playboy column, or anything worth mentioning.

He was good in 127 hours. Very hard to watch this film knowing what he would have to do to survive since it was based on a real person but he was good. Sorry if I am always the one to say something nice...buess it is my southern upbringing...and someone has to do it!
I know the girl at Yale he was nailing. The dude is definitely 100% not a mo. He just likes screwing with people. More power to him. I like a good freakshow and con artist who fools everyone into thinking they got talent.
