Mike Tyson headed for Broadway with one man show

Mike Tyson is making the popular move from the big screen to Broadway with his one-man show, "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth."

The production, under the direction of Spike Lee, will play at the Longacre Theatre for six nights only starting July 31.

According to a website for the show, "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth" is "a rare, personal look inside the life and mind of one of the most feared men ever to wear the heavyweight crown." The site also assures ticket holders that they'll be treated to a "riveting one-man show [that] goes beyond the headlines, behind-the-scenes and between the lines to deliver a must-see theatrical knockout."

Tyson performed the show in Vegas earlier this year, and he told CNN at the time that "Undisputed Truth" is compiled from "the stories of my life that were basically in the headlines," but also "the underlining story: My relationship with my wife, my conviction, my upbringing, the death of my mother ... just who I was as a child backĀ  then, and who I am now."

The 'Undisputed Truth' About Mike Tyson

In April, the former heavyweight champ spoke with Kyra Phillips about his Las Vegas show "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth."

According to Playbill.com, "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth" was written by his wife, Kiki Tyson, and director Randy Johnson, and shows the good and the bad of Tyson's history. The boxer said in a statement that to share the "highlights and lowlights of my life with New York is especially important to me as I was born and raised in Brooklyn."

And according to director Lee, Tyson is a "great storyteller," as he said in a statement.

"Human beings want to hear stories. Whether it's a play, a documentary ... a song, a musical, a novel or a movie, we love to hear stories," Lee said. "And, with Mike Tyson on stage, you are going to hear a great American story."

TicketsĀ for the 90-minute show, which runs July 31 through August 5, are on sale now via Telecharge.com as well as by phone.

Come on kids let's go to see a broadway show. What's it about daddy"?. "Well kids, it starts with a black Director who is a bigot, attempting to turn around the reputation of a black boxer more famous for raping people, serving prison time, taking every drug under the sun, getting arrested, biting peoples ears off, lossing millions of dollars almost overnight, getting divorced several times, and all types of other fun stuff". You'll love it. Very heartwarming !

Yeah because everything needs to be kid friendly, you're probably the kind of guy that goes into a bar and complains about people swearing in front of your kids. As far as Tyson is concerned, You can say all you want about him based off the little bit of news knowledge you have of him, But he certaintly became more in life then you ever will.

Mike Tyson grew up in Catskill NY. A small upstate city. He was a wanna be gang member who was smashing too many heads in school, so the HS principal turned his violence toward boxing. This fool can't even tell the truth in the "Undisputed Truth". What a crock.

What a ridiculous version of the truth. Tyson lived in Brooklyn until he was 12, he was sent to Tryon School for Boys at 13, he was at high school in Catskill until 1982 when Cus took legal guardianship after he was kicked out. 12 years in Brooklyn and 3 is Catskill does not equate to Tyson being raised in Catskill. You sound crazy trying to make up this man's history in a lame attempt to disredit him. It's his life story not yours.

What tribe is Tyson from? Brooklyn earbiters? New York knuckle-draggers? Facial tattoos on a person of tribal origin is one thing, but Tyson just copied that guy from Star Trek. Yeah, he could beat my a$$, but he is still a rapist and a punk with an irritating whiny voice.
