Legal woes for Bristol Palin's reality show?

It wouldn't be a reality show without a little drama to lead in to the premiere.

Ahead of the Tuesday debut of her Lifetime program "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp," Palin has reportedly been sued by the man who was caught on camera having a heated exchange of words with her last fall.

At the time, Bristol had Lifetime cameras in tow when she went to the Saddle Ranch Chop House in L.A. She was filmed riding a mechanical bull when a heckler yelled out, "Did you ride Levi (Bristol's ex and the father of her son, Tripp) like that?"

The heckler, Stephen Hanks, also called Bristol's mom, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, "evil" and a "whore."

Hanks later apologized, but his exchange with Bristol can be seen in a promo clip for "Life's a Tripp" - and Hanks is reportedly not pleased.

E! reports that Hanks has filed a lawsuit alleging that Bristol defamed him by saying he was the reason she moved back to Alaska and that Lifetime doesn't have the right to air his image because he never signed a waiver. Lifetime said it isn't commenting on any legal matters.

Of course, that's not all the series will focus on. As evidenced by the promo, "Life's a Tripp" will document Bristol's journey as a single mom to her 3-year-old as she moves from Wasilla, Alaska, to Los Angeles along with her sister, Willow, and then back to Alaska.

On "Good Morning America" this week, Bristol described herself as a "grounded, normal mom" and added that she's "excited for viewers to see the real me," including in the scene with Hanks.

She's aware that some will use her show as ammunition against her, but Bristol told "GMA's" Robin Roberts that the talk just adds fuel to her fire.

"When people are talking poorly about me, I think it just gives me motivation to want to do more and want to speak up even louder," she said. "I think the people who don't like me, I'm not trying to change their opinion on it, but it's going to be a good show."

Bristol Palin has done a great disservice to her family and her son, Tripp, by seeking to air such a show. She has only exposed not just herself but her family to more criticism, especially when you liken her odd value system to Palin politics.

In the show, Bristol reveals–without even realizing it–how hypocritically she expects from others what she would never impose upon herself. She calls her sister Willow selfish for not wanting to sit in a house and watch Tripp all day while she volunteers by day or later parties with friends, all in front of television cameras. (If Bristol had been a corporation, Willow just might have been tempted to join the "liberals" at Occupy Wall Street in LA to protest such unfair, work practices.)

On another show, Bristol admits to refusing Levi requested visitations with Tripp because he gives her only "eight-hours" notice. Yet, she blames him for not dropping everything to play with Tripp, in front of her television cameras, at a spot she has designated, in a text she had sent him only the day before. Really??

If past behavior predicts future response, I fear the damage to the whole family is far from over. However, the Palins will be quite remiss if they simply blame the liberal public instead of looking inward for ways they can spare their own family such public criticism. The only one who really benefits from such a show is Levi. But, definitely not poor Tripp. He could sadly end up the worst of all the casualties. Airing this show was by far the worst public mistake any Palin has made to date.

How disgraceful of Bristol Palin- trying to make money off her baby- the Shows name is Life Is A Trip and Tripp is her babies name- I dont know of many people who would stoop low enough to watch her show- I know I sure wouldnt!! Why cant Bristol grow up – get a real job and be a regular mom to her baby instead of pushing him into the spotlight everywhere she goes. Oh thats right- by herself – she wouldnt get anywhere- she is SOOOOOOOO boring!!!!

@ Raiann – fair game to do what? people don't and shouldn't have carte blanche to say whatever crass and demeaning remark they like simply because they disagree with another person's politics. You don't like Palin, so you think it's okay?

"'When people are talking poorly about me, I think it just gives me motivation to want to do more and want to speak up even louder,'" she said.

That's the problem with the Kardueshian clan. They WON'T go away! They constantly appear like a bad penny.
This sleazebag is the same way.

"'I think the people who don't like me, I'm not trying to change their opinion on it, but it's going to be a good show'."

Don't bother trying to be sweet with everybody. We know the ULTERIOR PLAN. Keep you re-done face on TV long enough, while mommy is waiting in the wings.
If and when Mitt-head loses, Grizzly will come out of the woodwork.

    The Bottom Line...

We have better, more important issues to deal with. You and this media hungry clan of moronic misfits need to DISAPPEAR.
You, Lohan, and the entire Kardueshian clan just GO AWAY!

Bristol's show premieres the same night as Game 4 of the NBA finals. I have a feeling Bristle will lose some viewers. Then it will be the fault of the "lamestream" NBA and ABC for fewer viewers. Bristol is just out there on tv and Blogging to keep Sarah in view anyway. She is Sarah's echo.

Yes, Sarah Palin dragged all her kids into the spotlight every chance she got. But, Bristol's become an adult since then and no one is forcing her to keep on shoving her plastic mug all over magazines, tv and the "lamestream" media they all claim to hate so much. Not only her own mug, but her kid Tripp's too...it's now 3rd generation famewhoring.

I'll bet this will be the most boring show on tv. I won't know this for a fact, though, because I would never watch it in the first place. Where's Palintwit? You'd think he'd be all over this one! lol

This is really sad. I am not going to put the girl down but what is the point in giving a teenage pregnancy her own show. This world is going to the dog. What advice can she give anybody. Instead of being on tv, take your butt to college and do something worth while. I know the money is good but don't let yourself get caught up in the fame and become another hasbeen in the media. Why get a rush from people speaking bad about you. Is it worth it......I think not.

If you just got to be on tv, try your hand at acting, show some real talent. Reality shows are horrible and sick.

Ha.. Jacka$$e$ like him love to sling mud but want to get paid for it? Nah.. He blabbed his mouth off and I hope he gets fired from his job because of it, if his Boss is a republican...lol It's always been fair to go after the candidate and even the spouse sometimes, but the kids? They are hands off. This P.O.S. should have kept his mouth shut and he shouldn't get a penny. He saw the cameras, everyone did. Does that mean now that anyone in front of Rockerfeller center can now sue the today show if they end up on T.V.? lol What an idiot..

Sorry Jenny but in this case I could give a rat's ass about Palin's kids. She put them out there, so they better deal with it. Palin's kids are nasty, hateful racist pigs just like her so they get what they deserve. Karma baby. BTW, I too wonder if she rode Levi like that.

I agree kids are off limits but when you go out and champion your family memeber in the politcal spotlight then you are fair game. If you can not take the heat then DO not speak out as an advocate for the candidate. Though calling people childish names are well Childish. But for this candidate I get it.

I'm sure you would never listen to Rush Limbaugh then, since he infamously made fun of Chelsea Clinton on his short-lived TV show.

Yes, kids are off-limits. Adults who choose to put themselves into the spotlight (and make political comments as well) don't have immunity from ridicule.
