The new teaser trailer for Tom Hooper's "Les Miserables" may be brief, but it's powerful nonetheless.
The minute-and-a-half long clip makes great use of Anne Hathaway as Fantine, as her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" serves as the soundtrack for the teaser.
Tom Hooper's take on the classic tale set in 19th century France wields a star-studded cast, including Hugh Jackman as paroled prisoner Jean Valjean; Amanda Seyfried as Cosette; Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert; and theater star Samantha Barks as Eponine.
Hooper, who won an Oscar in 2011 for his direction of "The King's Speech" (which also picked up best picture that year), explained previously why he decided against filming "Les Mis" in 3-D, like so many other movies - including the upcoming adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," from Baz Luhrmann - these days.
"I wanted to make a film that would touch everyone," Hooper explained, noting that he was tempted to take the 3-D route. But, he continued, "I believe the story is strong - 3-D is not essential."
After seeing the teaser clip, we tend to agree. What do you think?
"Les Miserables" will open in theaters December 14.

I would see this film just for the fact that's it's not in 3D. Kudos to Hooper!! I'm still scratching my head as to why the Great Gatsby is 3D.
WOW...I am so excited...thankfully Anne won't be in the film all that much...but stoked about the rest of the crew!
