A new director for 'Iron Man 3'?Updated at 12:25 p.m. ET: CNN has confirmed that Jon Favreau will return for "Iron Man 3" as the film's executive producer. He'll also reprise the role of Happy Hogan. Jon Favreau will suit up for "Iron Man 3," but don’t look for him in the director’s chair. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Favreau has signed on to play Tony Stark's bodyguard “Happy Hogan" - the role he played in both "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2," which he also directed. However, it's Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) who will reportedly direct the franchise's third flick. Sources tell the publication that shooting began on Wednesday in North Carolina. We're not yet sure why Marvel made the switch, but it’s probably safe to say there’s no bad blood between Favreau and the studio considering he’s still involved in the threequel. The flick is due out in 2013. |

Keep it clean guys.
In breaking news, Kevin Spacey is Kaiser Souze.
Yeah, Favreau switched for the same reason he didn't direct Avengers when offered. He wasn't sure about how to mesh the technology aspect of Captain America and the supernatural elements of Thor. Since he figured IM would be a take off from the Avengers and that world (where tech and magic mix), he decided not to continue directing for the series. He's now directing a flick about people who get stuck in Disneyland after hours, in Disney's Night at the Museum 3 (actually called "The Magic Kingdom")

I am glad to see that Favreau is EP for IM3and is keeping his role as Happy Hogan (he was actually quite funny in that role in IM2. It looks like he loved Avengers as much as anyone else.
