Virginia high school student Cady Eimer had been asking Justin Bieber to be her prom date for years, but unfortunately the Biebs couldn't attend.
So instead, he did her one better and invited 18-year-old Eimer and her sister to Sunday's Billboard Music Awards.
"I know you wanted me to go to your prom Cady, but I'm actually going to be at the Billboard Awards, and I'm actually going to have a car waiting for you ... that's exciting, right?" Bieber said in his videotaped invite, which played for all to see at Eimer's prom.
He concluded with words that surely made Eimer the envy of Beliebers everywhere: "I love you, thank you so much for the support, I can't wait for you and your sister to be my guests at the Billboard awards," he told her.
Bieber added to People magazine Sunday that Eimer's "a big fan, and I thought it would be fun" to invite her to the show.
The 18-year-old pop star was just one of many to perform at the ceremony, which also included sets from LMFAO, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and Katy Perry, not to mention some moving tributes to fallen legends like Whitney Houston.
Perry performed her new track "Wide Awake" at the show:
While Jordin Sparks and John Legend took on a tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston:
Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina was also there to accept the Millennium Award, and she confirmed what we all know after hearing the countless tributes that honor the legend but just can't replicate her.
"I'm just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman's life," Bobbi said. "There will never be another one, ever."
As for the evening's winners, Adele lead the way, having secured 12 - yep, 12 - Billboard Music Awards, including Top Artist.
