With just one week left in the season, "Modern Family" is not resting on its laurels. The show continues to provide memorable moments, and Wednesday's episode was yet another example (I predict we'll see that scene at the Emmys).
Seeing the entire family arguing while portraying a "living portrait" was so evocative of the series as a whole, and hilarious to boot. So, why was everyone so upset?
When Gloria learned that Jay told a waitress things that he didn't tell her, he responded by saying that sometimes she can be a little loud. Gloria decided to start speaking in stage whispers (though it was difficult for her not to scream "Manny!" for a split second).
Luke was boasting about his big award for putting out a fire - one which he actually set himself, as Manny revealed.
Manny had told him to tell the truth for his country, and Luke's response was to ask for the award ceremony to take place underneath an American flag. Luke is kind of evil like that.
Cam and Claire were at each other's throats over how to raise Lily. Cam decided that the word "no" should never be used, which Claire thought was absurd. Claire especially didn't like that Cam made Lily the "captain of her own naptime."
Finally, Phil bungled his firing of Mitchell from some work he was doing on the side. This week's MVP, Mitchell instead thought that Phil was asking him to do more. I loved that they worked in Ty Burrell's nervous blinking into the story.
When Mitchell showed up at Phil's office, Phil took the opportunity to fire him as soon as he got onto the elevator, which got stuck. Mitchell had boasted that he was so good at his job that he turned in two projects after the deadline. This led to Mitchell being known as lazy. Mitchell eventually fell asleep in the stuck elevator, and one of Phil's co-workers said, "Figures."
I have to say, "Modern Family" is really finishing strong, and I can't wait to see what they have for us next week on the season finale.
Do you agree? Would you try a "Jay Pritchett" sandwich? Share your view on video or comment below.
I definitely agree Modern Family is finishing strong; this show is one of my favorites during primetime. Sometimes I do miss it during the week since I am working late at Dish. But most of the time I catch up on pretty easily. I record it along with many primetime shows and now with the Auto Hop feature I can skip commercials on primetime TV. I wonder what the Baby on Board episode is going to be all about.
we love to kill Jews.

I wouldn't eat anything with anchovies, but if I got to have a meal with that group I'd order extra fries and pretend to eat it.
