Jay-Z announces two-day music fest in PhiladelphiaHip-hop mogul Jay-Z announced Monday that he's headed to the City of Brotherly Love this Labor Day weekend to headline the "Budweiser Made in America" festival, which he's also curated. In partnership with Budweiser and the United Way, Jay-Z has developed a showcase of almost 30 acts from across the musical spectrum, including rock, R&B, Latin, dance and hip-hop. The official lineup will be announced on May 21. Tickets to the event will go on sale May 23, with Budweiser Facebook fans being able to access the pre-sale on May 22. The concert is expected to cover three stages inside Philly’s Fairmount Park on September 1 and 2. Jay-Z will wear two hats for the occasion, that of artist as well as that of fundraiser. Proceeds from the event, which is produced by Live Nation, will go to United Way outposts in greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and of course Jay’s beloved New York City. The organization invests cash in local communities and education. |

Speaking of Philly I just heard about Philly native Sterling Simms first single featuring Meek Mill http://bit.ly/O4hlUT
I justs don't like dis J Z fella. he ugly man. uglier den sin. he no good for beyonce. beyonce should bees wit denzel or some handsome man. dis JZ has dees big ol lips. I have good size lips but dis here man he hav lips dat look like he was socked in da kisser. ugly man.
If only it wasn't in Philly.
I am from Philly and I don't want the jazz fest held in my City. The mayor and all his minions cry poor every chance they get. They try to find ways to raise taxes every chance they get, the schools are going bankrupt, but yet we will be paying city overtime for police, clean up crews, etc.
I used to respect jay-z untill he became part of the 1% then had the nerve to sell "occupy all streets" t-shirts to profit off the occupy wall street movement. yeah i guess hes a hustler babee. he just wants you to know- hes laughing his way to the bank. NAS WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER
Say my name, bee-yatch. All Rap Sucks. Weak-a** "Art" for ignorant people.
Yo Philly!
Philly rules. Cheesesteaks, Bobby Clarke, Will Smith, Tina Fey!
Your town sucks!
Fairmount Park is not in the middle of the ghetto. This festival is being held near the Art Museum area from what I've been able to ascertain.
The art museum is not "in" Fairmont Park. It is at the end of the Ben Franklin Parkway, right where East Park starts. It is hugely different than the upper east and west sides of the park. If they have it on the BF parkway, not so bad. Having it somewhere up in Fairmont park would be an invitation for more crime than Philly wants or needs. Some of the worst neighborhoods in the city line the park on both sides of the Schuykill river.
Why do people have to slag the guy for being a monster success and for giving back?
I think j doing some good but come to knoxville tennessee
Is Blue Ivy's surrogate mother attending?
He's a really good man working to give back to communities in need. Good grief...say something nice or just be quite. It's a real shame that freedom of speech applies to idiots, too.
and what I don't understand is that he worked hard to get where he is.... this success was not handed to him on a silver platter.... damned if you do and damned if you don't....
A three day hip hop festival in Killadelphia??? Good luck with the security on this one Jay
It is for a good cause but don't worry, the acts/JayZ will get a nice piece of the pie.
What's the over/under on fatalities?
Seriously, I will certainly be getting out of town for that crimefest.
Its not a hip-hop festival idiot. Its a music festival containing 70 acts from different genres.
Jay z.what is happening u have money come and help me i live at white house bustop, okokomaiko lagos state Nigeria.5 essumel.i know u have a lot of money please help me
Music is music, if u dont like it or cant be around people ,then dont go. i hope he invites linkin park and the FF's . i went to the live 8 show in philly a few years ago, which jay z was a part of. it was free, with a variety 0f musical genres and tastes. a million people showed up and the only real problems that i saw were with greedy vendors, there were way too many of them. other then that , everyone just chilled and enjoyed it,no matter what their race or choice of poisons or attire. fairmount park is nuts tho for something like this, its kinda in the middle of the ghetto, having been born n raised in the city,i know this, still,if the lineup is halfway decent, i would go
@ George: Music IS music. Sadly, Rap is nothing more than Real Musics' retarded stepson. Anyone who thinks that Rap is real music clearly doesn't understand what music is.
JESUS LOVES YOU ALL
I support that dude.
Wow .... Alot of ppl pay attn. to others behinds so much they know if that person has stains or not LMAO! And to the idiot who said "blacks lol" white boys are breaking their necks to be dress ignorant as well .... thats not a racial issue idiot!

@layz...u r a sad case...i am sure u could use some help or attention...just pray...it`s ok...really...
Hopefully it goes well. The cause certainly sounds like a worthwhile one.
Uh who cares? I mean most of the acts will be no talent cRap. What a waste. Prerecorded bs and thugs standing around with a blunt in one hand with a 40 oz in the other and there pants hanging off their butts showing their poop stained undies..lmfao
your a racist peice of trash
"Jay-Z has developed a showcase of almost 30 acts from across the musical spectrum, including rock, R&B, Latin, dance and hip-hop."
Yet somehow you think you know what kinds of acts will be present...interesting.
So... Who ARE those 30 acts ?
What a weak article- it's even poor as a Press Release !
(meant to add) It seems to be for a great cause
Did you read the article genius? It clearly says the acts will be announced on May 21st. What's today?
Tuesday.
Good look. Now, let the hating begin.
Cool.
