Now that director Gary Ross' schedule is cleared of "Catching Fire," it looks like the director has found his next project: “Houdini.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-nominated director is currently in negotiations for the position.
The Summit Entertainment film would be based on the 2006 book, “The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero,” a biography of Harry Houdini by William Kalush and Larry Sloman.
Screenwriter Noah Oppenheim is said to have penned the most recent draft of the script.
Summit reportedly scooped up the movie rights to the book in March 2009 with the intention of kicking off an action-thriller franchise built around a character “who is part Indiana Jones and part Sherlock Holmes.” The book implied that the master magician posed as a spy for Great Britain, assisting the Secret Service and various other police organizations.
