Max Greenfield to tweet the truth, and nothing but

Fans of Fox's “New Girl” know to expect almost anything from Schmidt, the skirt-chasing roommate played by Max Greenfield.

On the show, he regularly shocks (and disgusts) his friends; on the Web, Greenfield’s hilarious workout video - in character - has racked up 170,000-plus views in a few days. And on Thursday, fans can expect the truth – about anything they ask him.

Greenfield plans to tweet the truth and nothing but the truth for four hours today: from 1-5 p.m. ET/10 a.m.-2 p.m. PT. It’s a promo for the all-natural soda Zevia, which pitches itself as “no sugar, nothing artificial.” Oddly enough, Greenfield says he was drinking the soda before Zevia reached out to him.

“I take my shirt off literally every episode,” Greenfield chuckled, and as the holidays approached, his diet began to threaten his physique. “Someone turned me on to Zevia, because I was drinking soda at the time, and it was bloating me, but I didn’t want to give it up!”

Greenfield doesn’t normally hold back – talking about his oft-revealed bare chest, he admitted "there’s about seven hairs on there [but] you can’t see ‘em unless you have a super-HD TV!” – and he’s promising to answer anything and everything, no evasions or fibs, when he tweets for Zevia today.

Of course, that does raise one question: will he be tweeting as Max, or as Schmidt? Greenfield says, even when he’s himself, the character is never far away.

“It usually starts off with Max, and then something happens, and I get triggered into being Schmidt: ‘Well, let’s slip into the other mode!’”
