Christina Ricci signs on to 'Smurfs' sequelLook who's joining the party: Christina Ricci has signed on to do the second big-screen adaptation of the cartoon classic “The Smurfs.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actress will be the face behind the voice of a new character named Vexi - an evil version of Smurfette. She’ll apparently be in good company for the animated film's sequel as, according to reports, most of the original flick's stars are expected to return.
That includes Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, Alan Cumming, Katy Perry and others. The director for the original hit - Raja Gosnell - will also reportedly return. The 2011 original generated $564 million worldwide. The latest Sony Pictures film will hit theaters on July 31, 2013. But Ricci’s project before then is definitely not child’s play: she plays a seductress in the sexy new period piece “Bel Ami” opposite Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman, which arrives in theaters this June.

I saw the smurf movie over spring break, cute movie. The evil version of smurfette will be a good addition. I think Christina Ricci is a good choice.

Seriously, there's going to be a Smurf's sequel?!!! You've GOT to be joking! It was a very OK (we all endured it) movie for my 8 yr old son to watch but this is most definitely NOT sequel worthy.
