Alfonso Ribeiro leads 'Carlton dance' flash mob

Alfonso Ribeiro's still got it.

Sixteen years after the conclusion of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and the 40-year-old actor can do the "Carlton" dance, named after his Carlton Banks character on the show, like it's still 1992.

In Los Angeles over the weekend, Ribeiro led what he called on Twitter "the world's largest simultaneous flash mob" as a promotion for fitness company ViSalus' Body by Vi program. He kicked off the dance routine with a little Carlton arm-swinging, to Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual," of course.

This was followed by some choreography to Sugarhill Gang's "Apache (Jump On It)" that fans would remember seeing Ribeiro perform with his co-star Will Smith on the '90s sitcom.

Although Ribeiro was in L.A., he posted on his Twitter account that the same moves were being performed in over 300 cities on Saturday at the same time.

I agree, anyone that grew up in the 80's and 90's thinks this was cool as hell! Jealousy ruins people because they live through others people lives and choose to hate on someone that has lived...

When Carlton and Will did the 'Carlton Dance' 2gether on the final episode I almost cried. That's when I knew the show was done 4 good. Normally,Will always looked @ Carlton like he was crazy. But not only did he do the dance with Carlton he sang the lyrics to the song.

It's a shame to see an actor break character for a gimicky sales pitch. Would it have been so damn hard to dress as Carlton Banks, and make the performance infinitly better?

Love flash mobs, but this wasn't really a flash mob (and world's largest simultaneous flash mob? huh?). You can't put a bunch of coordinated dancers in a completely vacant open space with no one around and call it a flash mob. Flash mobs are built around spontaneity.

"Worlds Largest" is in reference to the 300 cities across the US and Canada that did the exact same performance at the exact same time.

The LA performance above had several hundred people, as did each major city in the USA, along with smaller performances in more rural areas.

The dancing was synchronized and came off flawlessly, and did set a new record as the "Worlds Largest Simultaneous Flashmob"

Aren't flash mobs suppost to occur around people that are not involved in the mob? There were only a few people not in the mob. Less of a flash mob more of just a choreographed dance.
