Lifetime is offering up more details about Lindsay Lohan's upcoming role as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime film, "Liz & Dick."
In a statement on Monday, Lifetime's exec VP of programming, Rob Sharenow, said they're "thrilled" that the 25-year-old actress is portraying the film legend, who died in March of last year.
Lohan, Sharenow said, "is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon."
For Lohan's part, the rebounding starlet said that she's "always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor," according to the statement.
"She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well," Lohan continued. "I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”
Lifetime's "Liz & Dick" will focus on the turbulent but passionate "historic romance" Taylor had with fellow actor Richard Burton. Production, according to the statement, is set to launch in Los Angeles in early June.
