USA Network’s forthcoming drama “Political Animals” just got a serious credibility boost.
Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn is on board for a role in the new series, according to a statement from the network.
Burstyn, who snagged the Academy Award for best actress in 1974 for her role in “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore," will now portray star Sigourney Weaver’s mom.
Weaver is said to be playing a character who bears an uncanny political resemblance to former first lady and current secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
The show is about a former first family struggling to maintain its clout.
Other stars include Carla Gugino, Sebastian Stan and James Wolk.
Episodes of the six-part series will begin rolling out this summer.
