A report suggests that the cast of “Modern Family” wants a raise - a gigantic one.
And, the actors may be in a very good position to get paid: it’s contract renegotiation time, and the Emmy Award-winning sitcom is one of the highest-watched series on TV.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the six adult cast members (minus Ed O’Neill, who reportedly earns more) currently make around $65,000 per episode.
But sources told the publication that reps for Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara will ask for around $200,000 per episode heading into season 4.
The show’s patriarch Ed O’Neill reportedly makes close to $105,000 per episode, and it’s not clear whether he’ll demand more as well.
ABC would probably be wise to give the stars what they want: “Modern Family” is said to attract 13.7 million regular viewers right now, up 12 percent from last year according to Nielsen. In 2011, it apparently generated $164 million in ad revenue for the network as well.
What say you fans of the show? Do you believe it, and if so do they deserve more money?
