Elisabeth Moss: Fred Armisen only impersonates normal

In a moment of rare celebrity candor, "Mad Men's" Elisabeth Moss opens up to Page Six magazine about her split from "Saturday Night Live" and "Portlandia" star Fred Armisen.

Moss and Armisen married in October of 2009, only to head for divorce 8 months later. Of the breakup, 29-year-old Moss tells Page Six magazine, "It's so hard to talk about."

She continues: "One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, 'He's so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.' To me, that sums it up."

The comment seems to have been a moment of realization for Moss, but she tells Page Six that's really all she has to say about her former husband.

"I've never told anyone that. And I don't want to waste any more of my life talking about it," she says. Adding that she's "very much" enjoying being single, Moss isn't worried about maintaining any sort of relationship with Armisen, as she certainly doesn't keep in touch with him. ("Oh God, no," she replies when asked.)

"I obviously want a partner in life, and I want someone to grow old with, but there's also a nice time when you're young to enjoy being you," she says. "I'm addicted to and obsessed with my freedom in that sense. I'm having fun!"

We'll raise a glass, "Mad Men" style, to that. The fifth season of Moss' series returns to AMC on March 25.

  2. Funny.

Has there ever been a cast member considered "normal" from SNL anyway?

This story wasn't necessarily very interesting. The content was fine, but I would have enjoyed it more if they just had a very large picture of Christina Hendricks instead of Moss. I don't care if the story isn't about her.
    Yeah...that would have been perfect.

Love how so many idiots of this post have failed to see Elasabeth's amazing portrayal of Peggy Olson. The writing on Mad Men is prob too confusing for their simple taste. Better stick to Dancing with the Non-Stars or the Bachelor.

I'd be interested to know what she considers "normal". Probably whatever the church of Scientology tells her is normal.

Normal? Is her idea of normal trashing her ex-husband in the press? having said that, she's great on Mad Men

She is in NO WAY a real star. She got lucky getting the Mad Men gig. Jon Hamm runs that show and all others pale. Love January Jones too,
