'Joustin' Beaver' vs. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber was in good humor as he helped Billy Crystal open the Oscars Sunday, but the teen star's team seems to find nothing funny about a game app called "Joustin' Beaver."

According to a statement from the company behind the app, RC3, Bieb's legal team handed down a cease and desist letter alleging that the game uses Bieber's likeness without authorization, among other things.

The "Joustin' Beaver" game features a beaver called JB, which with aid from the game's player tries to thwart opportunistic "Phot-Hogs" with his lance as he sails down a river signing "Otter-graphs."

Alan Ball plans to step down as 'True Blood' showrunner

As we get ready for a fifth season of sexy supernatural drama in Bon Temps, Alan Ball is planning to ease up on the reins.

The "True Blood" creator has announced that he'd step down as showrunner following the fifth season, reports the New York Times. There's still a big "if" surrounding the announcement, however, as a sixth season of "True Blood" isn't guaranteed.

"If we proceed to season six, the show will remain in the very capable hands of the talented team of writers and producers who have been with the show for a number of years," HBO said. "Alan would take a supervisory role and not be the day-to-day showrunner."

Meanwhile, Ball's still expected to develop show concepts for Cinemax and HBO (which is owned by the same parent company as CNN), and to that end, will be bringing a new series set in a small town in Pennsylvania Amish Country to Cinemax.

Lucy Liu to play Watson on CBS Sherlock pilot

Lucy Liu has picked up on another TV role thanks to CBS' take on Sherlock Holmes, according to Deadline.

The 43-year-old actress will reportedly play Joan Watson in a drama pilot called "Elementary" for the network. The character's traditionally male, but CBS is working on an updated take on the classic tale set in the present day.

This spin on Sherlock Holmes, written by Robert Doherty, sees Holmes living in Brooklyn after going through treatment at an NYC rehab facility to deal with addiction problems. To be played by "Dexter's" Jonny Lee Miller, Holmes will be a consultant to the NYPD, after previously consulting with Scotland Yard.

Watson, a surgeon who lost her license because of a patient's death, lives with Holmes as his "sober partner."

'The Bachelor' goes to Switzerland

Last night's episode of "The Bachelor" brought Ben and the three remaining contestants to Switzerland. As is the case when there are three players left, Ben begins the show by reminiscing about his time with the ladies.

First there's Nicki, who Ben refers to as the "dark horse." I presume this means Nicki is the Newt Gingrich of the competition.

Speaking of horses, Ben then turns to Lindzi, who he describes as "a little bit country, a little bit city." In other words, she's Osmond with a touch of Kardashian.

AnnaSophia Robb is your young Carrie Bradshaw

"Sex and the City" prequel "The Carrie Diaries" has found its young Carrie in 18-year-old actress AnnaSophia Robb, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Robb, who's previously starred in "Soul Surfer" and 2005's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" as Violet, will portray the teen version of the infamous "Sex and the City" character, portrayed in her older years on HBO by Sarah Jessica Parker. ("Running Wilde's" Stefania Owen has been cast in "The Carrie Diaries" as Carrie's 14-year-old sister Dorrit.)

The CW has ordered a pilot for the show, which will be executive produced by "Gossip Girl" team Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, as well as former "SATC" writer/producer Amy B. Harris, among others.

The concept, like "Sex and the City," is based on the work of author Candace Bushnell, and follows Bradshaw during her high school years in the '80s.
