Angelina Jolie's right leg steals the showThe 2012 Oscars was short on scandal and yet still long on body parts: Aside from Jennifer Lopez's (perhaps) imaginary wardrobe malfunction, there was also the matter of Angelina Jolie's leg. Her right one, to be exact. On the red carpet Jolie consistently hit her pose, making sure that her high-heeled limb was never lost in the voluminous black gown she wore - which was helped by the fact that the gown had a thigh-high slit. The actress maintained her determination on stage as well, ensuring that she was showing plenty of leg while presenting during the Oscars show.
Her stance was so overt and obvious that it's already spawned a Twitter account of its own, and it can be seen "legbombing" random events on BuzzFeed. (If you're not careful, Jolie's right leg just might pop up in a photo from your Oscars party...) Screenwriter Jim Rash, part of the Oscar-winning writing team from "The Descendants," which picked up the best adapted screenplay award, couldn't help but mimic the leggy star when it was his turn to take the stage. Rash tells Entertainment Weekly that he couldn't resist after watching Jolie so insistently pose during her presentation: "Honestly, as soon as I saw her pose like that, I was like, 'I'm going to do that'...I knew ['The Descendants' director] Alexander [Payne] was going to take the reins, so I was like, 'How can I make a moment?'" What do you think - was Angelina's pose overwrought, or was she simply working what she's got? As you mull it over, we'll leave you with this greeting from @AngiesRightLeg: "Great meeting most of you for the first time last night at the Oscars!!...You have to admit I'm one hell of a leg."

She looks fabulous in that gown, very striking with the pale skin and bright red lipstick. She's one of those women that looks better past her twenties. Looked too pudgy and ethnic as a young woman, but now that she's lightened her hair and lost some baby fat so she's got more sculpted features, she's become a knockout. Still don't like her Mrs. Jellaby ways, though.

I can't believe anyone thought that looked good! First of all she tried to hard to "pose" and she looked just plain goofy. Then she tried to "repose" and even looked worse. I was concerned about her overall thinness. When she first was attempting to expose her leg her upper thigh jiggled like jello. I agree she has no muscle tone and it may have been a stunt but she is beautiful. I only hope she isn't going to do a Demi Moore . Her electrolytes will soon be so out of whack she end up like Karen Carpenter.

It was strange to say the least! & I am usually a fan of A. Jolie. But to stand like this even as a presenter was weird. No surprise there when The Descendants screenwriter imitated her leg pose.

It's scary to think that the camera adds 5 to 10 pounds. Just imagine what she looks like in person. If she doesn't realize how she looks, then she may be anorexic. Otherwise, she is brave for coming out in public having what appears to be a malignant or life threatening condition.

Yes, the pose was overwrought. But his mocking of her was poorly done. There's a way of doing a friendly ribbing of someone and letting them in on the joke. His attempt was more making a joke at her expense, which was cruel.

She is beautiful, in great shape and not that skinny. She looks like she works out a lot, thats a lot of muscle in that leg.

Well said. You only notice this once visit another country, and then even places like Germany and the UK, people are much much smaller. Americans both men and women eat way too much, and way too much bad stuff.
She just doesn't do it like she use to. I use to think this was one of the most beautiful women I saw in the industry. Well...not anymore. Don't get me wrong. Still beautiful. But not as appealing as before because she is getting way too skinny. There was a pic I saw recently that said it all. It had old pics of Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and the like. They were exotically beautiful. Next to them were those like Jolie presently that are ultra thin to the point it is almost sickening. When did beauty change in our eyes so much?

I think the conversation is productive because there are a lot of girls suffering for anorexia and bulimia in the world right now.It's really easy to stop eating once you start eating everyday less.
One of the common mistakes people make when somebody is sick is to think that you look great! I had some eating disorders in the past and I remembered I looked great but I was just eating lettuce, diet coke and cereal bars. The worst thing is you can have a heart attack in any moment. I think she needs some help.

Asides from her beautiful face, Angie was a disappointment on every other level. I think her legs are gorgeous, but damn her posing was pretty annoying. She's always been pretty slender so kinda lame all the people making fun of her weight. I am willing to bet that she gained weight (over what her body naturally stays at) to be Lara Croft, the same way that the guys will get a trainer (and yes, sometimes roids) to bulk up before a part.

I think it's a pity in this nation when fellow women cannibalize their own. Demi Moore for having a breakdown after being thrown under the bus in a very public and humiliating way, Angelina Jolie for showing her obvious charms and, as Tim Goodman of The Daily beast stated "Angelina Jolie sticking her leg out with authority", and that was exactly how I saw it. This woman is fearless, and it's something I wish I could do or be. A mother to 6, taking flying lessons to face her fears, going on national television and admitting what we all suspected but confirming that she was no good-girl when younger and is one of the lucky ones, unlike River Phoenix, or Heath Ledger that made it through those rocky times. And when married to Billy Bob Thornton, she expressed her desire for motherhood. BBT flatly denied he wanted to be a father again. She divorced him and adopted Pax (I believe it was Pax), showing she didn't need a man in her life in order to be a mother – and her WHOLE demeanor changed. Her Good Will Ambassador post, largely a symbolic post became a very powerful and productive and active one, and she adopted another child. She developed epiglottis after her mother died – you can't swallow so it kind of makes it hard to eat. She ADORED her mother. Watch any interview; it is her one weak point. She didn't steal anyone's man, no matter what the tabloids would have you believe; she was fine all on her own. Just look at her. And if she wants to stand on a stage, in a full black dress with a thigh high slit and use that slit to assert her authority as a powerful woman who has accomplished so much on her own – * I * for one will not be one of those cannibal women. Demi, I hope you're okay, sweetheart; I've been there, and if you feel like and emergency cheeseburger, this sister is here for you any time. Call me crazy but I have never found Angelina to be an attractive woman and this is why:
1) Her arms are incredibly skinny, almost skeleton-like....don't understand how that is attractive.
2) She is pretty...overall...and with make up...but her face has too many masculine features..

I found Jolie's whole "leg" pose to be both pathetic and disrespecful to the Academy and and the nominees of the category she was chosen to present for. The show was not about her. It would be nice if the Academy actually did some work and found past winners - (Denzel Washington, Julie Christie - people with class and dignity who represent the art of acting and show respect for themselves and their fellow nominees and the audiences who support their efforts. Glamour , intelligence, and beauty are subtle and need not be displayed in such a blatant ridiculous manner. The winner of the category who mocked her pose brought to the forefront a woman who obviously in not secure with herself.
Legs and outrageous poses are not nominees for the coveted awards. A pity the Academy loses sight of this fact.

A most UNLADYLIKE pose for someone in evening clothes. Now if she had on a tennis dress...OK – but in formal clothing, (it was a lovely gown ), her awkward thrust of leg and knee just was jarring. Didn't mind the slit to the thigh; it flashed her leg when she walked and that was sufficient, but apparently not enough for her.
I suppose I find it more comical than anything else... I laughed when she did it and laughed even harder when Jim Rash mocked her on stage. I recorded the show on my DVR and watched Angelina's presentation again because her actions seemed so out of character. If you watch the way she approaches the microphone, she looks at the camera and appears to be reading something, smirks awkwardly and then poses. I got the impression she was receiving direction from the show's producers to "show some leg."

I've seen recent close up photos that show Angelina's arms and hands. The veins are protruding out because she doesn't have enough fat to cover them. Even when I was a size 4 in high school, I had enough fat to cover my veins. The fact that she doesn't is scary, and you don't have to be a bitter fat person to think so.

The event is wrought with beauty excesses. Just look at everyone's wardrobe, they all want to show off their bodies and we want them to. That is a big part of being a celebrity, showing off what you have and getting people talking about you. The smart ones know how to do this tastefully and without going too far (like Janet Jackson's purposeful wardrobe malfunction).

I think it's a pity in this nation when fellow women cannibalize their own. Demi Moore for having a breakdown after being thrown under the bus in a very public and humiliating way, Angelina Jolie for showing her obvious charms and, as Tim Goodman of The Daily beast stated "Angelina Jolie sticking her leg out with authority", and that was exactly how I saw it. This woman is fearless, and it's something I wish I could do or be. A mother to 6, taking flying lessons to face her fears, going on national television and admitting what we all suspected but confirming that she was no good-girl when younger and is one of the lucky ones, unlike River Phoenix, or Heath Ledger that made it through those rocky times. And when married to Billy Bob Thornton, she expressed her desire for motherhood. BBT flatly denied he wanted to be a father again. She divorced him and adopted Pax (I believe it was Pax), showing she didn't need a man in her life in order to be a mother – and her WHOLE demeanor changed. Her Good Will Ambassador post, largely a symbolic post became a very powerful and productive and active one, and she adopted another child. She developed epiglottis after her mother died – you can't swallow so it kind of makes it hard to eat. She ADORED her mother. Watch any interview; it is her one weak point. She didn't steal anyone's man, no matter what the tabloids would have you believe; she was fine all on her own. Just look at her. This style dress is very popular in Europe, and if you were really watching when she presented, her smile indicated she wasn't taking herself seriously. She is a stunning woman, who has given her time, energy and money to many causes, can you say the same?

Damon Z. it is guys like you that create these massive insecurities for women, expecting perfect exterier appearances. I pity guys like you and it is your ego that you should be evaluating and your insecurites. Nancy, I completly agree, the pose seemed awkward and strange and even it is was a Pitt/Clooney gag it didn't come off and I doubt they would involve their significant others in their antics, I'm sure it is much more entertaining for their gags to be directed to each other. Although I appreciate Angelina's humanitarian work and her devotion as a mother, she certainly doesn't look as healthy as she has in the past. She looks fraile and as a public image, whether she likes it or not she should set a better example physically to women who want to emulate her. She may not of asked for that role but she has it and should display a healthy body image and inspire others as much as she inspires in her humanitarian efforts.

Men and women have insecurities over all kinda of things but that doesn't mean one should belittle someone just because you aren't as good looking as she is. If your negative comments were meant for someone who was fat everyone here would complain of you being mean. Yet it's ok to belittle someone who's beautiful just because you're jelous? If she's too skinny to you that's your prerogative, just say you prefer a bigger frame or whatever. However to imply she's sick, unhealthy or whatever is pure lunacy. First of all if you actually took time to read my comment you would read that I didn't say she wasn't beautiful, I do agree that she is beautiful. What I said is that she looks frail and unhealthy. I was not belittling her, I was not comparing myself to her physically, and I did not say she was too skinny. I first agreed that her pose on stage looked odd and she looked unhealthy. There is a difference to looking skinny and looking unhealthy. What I didn't like about your original comment is the expectations on external appearance and how those expectations can cause women to behave drastically to achieve those expectations which may not be healthy. Also I wonder how you can tell from reading a comment what a person looks like on the exterior. I did not make any judgement on what I think your appearance is nor do I care, I took my right to speak on this public forum. You assume from my comments that I have an ugly exterior, have a bigger framed or big-boned, I don't understand how you derive that from my comments. You couldn't possibly know what I look like let alone my dress size. And let's be honest, every human being has some form of jealousy embedded in them, I know my jealousy issues (and for the record I am not jealous of Angelina's beauty, I can appreciate it, I can say I am jealous of the world travelling she has done) as I am sure you know yours, for example you may be jealous of Brad Pitt since he gets to go home with Angelina but when it comes to being mean I really think you should re-read your posts. Now re-reading my post I probably should have written my second sentence a little more tactfully so it didn't come off as too much of an attack against you but your second post to me is clearly mean. What I really should have emphasized is the frustration women feel living up to these high expectations...it can be quite draining on women physically and to our self-esteem. Why my comment came off as mean is your assumption that everyone making comments was “fat" and/or "ugly" just set me off, I should have not written right away so I wasn't so angry and been more tactful. Damon, I am going to try to find something good from this discussion we are having, I do wish you well and next time I will try to be more tactful in my comments (although I feel the second half of my post was tactful). I am sure you have some good qualities and I hope that what you can take away from this is that you can't judge someone's looks or even personality from a few brief sentences in a blog and maybe you can be kinder in your future responses. For the record you did not hurt my feelings, I knew writing my comments that I was putting myself out there.
