Between the religious overtones and overall oddness of Minaj's set, she didn't earn high marks from critics - but the rapper told reporters at an event for MAC's Viva Glam make-up line that her critics just didn't understand.

While you were working...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • The CW's "Beauty and the Beast" has started the casting process, and they're hiring in-house: "Smallville's" Kristin Kreuk has been tapped for the female lead in the series, which is inspired by the CBS' "Beauty and the Beast" show that ran in the '80s. Kreuk will play Catherine, a "tough-minded NYPD homicide detective" who searches for the Beast for years after her mother is killed. When she finds him, she ends up becoming his protector. [Deadline]
  • That's not all the casting news we've got for you today: Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts have signed on for a film adaptation of the play "August: Osage County," with Streep as matriarch Violet and Roberts as her oldest daughter, Barbara. [HuffPo]
  • And then there's Oprah Winfrey, who's said to be "mulling over" making her return to acting in a Lee Daniels film. [THR]
  • Did you catch Jon Stewart's awkward moment on "Letterman" last night? If not, replay at the link. Hint: It involves a discussion about underwear...and groins...[LAT]
  • Chris Brown wasn't the only one tweeting and deleting on Valentine's Day. After showing off a photo of her - we're going to go ahead and say beau, because he's awfully cozy in this pic - Casper Smart cuddling on February 14, Jennifer Lopez deleted the image from her account. Photo's up at the link. [Celebuzz]
  • If you haven't been seeing enough of Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry together, here's nearly two minutes of the coupled-up co-stars in the "Dark Tide" trailer:

George Clooney still open to marriage

Although he's gained a reputation as Hollywood's playboy, George Clooney hasn't totally ruled out the idea of one day settling down for good.

Clooney's been married before, and as he told Piers Morgan on "Piers Morgan Tonight" last year, considering that union ended in 1993 "should show you how good I was at it."

These days, however, it sounds like Clooney is ever so slightly changing his tune.

New Jersey Gov. faces critics for Houston honor

Update 9:21 p.m.: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced earlier this week that he plans to have the state's flags fly at half-staff in honor of Jersey native Whitney Houston, and on Thursday issued an executive order for the tribute to take place Friday.

Since then, Christie has been standing ground against critics who disagree with his choice to use a tribute typically reserved to honor fallen soldiers or first responders.

'Revenge': The body on the beach belongs to...

[Editor's Note: If you don't want to know the identity of the body found on the beach in "Revenge's" pilot, stop reading now.]

Each new episode of ABC’s “Revenge” further invests viewers in Emily Thorne’s plot to avenge her father’s death.

And since the series’ pilot episode, which aired in September and teased a forthcoming climactic beach murder, fans have been dying to find out the victim’s identity.

Many speculated that the lifeless body in the sand belonged to Daniel Grayson (Joshua Bowman), Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) fiancé. It was either that gorgeous head of hair, or Daniel’s mother, Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), who put that image in our heads. (In the pilot, as well as last night’s episode, Victoria darts to the scene of the crime, crying out for her son.)
