Chris Brown: I'm not going anywhere

Some who tuned in to Sunday's Grammys weren't happy to see Chris Brown take the stage - twice to perform, and a third time to accept the best R&B album award - and it appears the artist hasn't held back in response.

According to Mashable.com, which has an image of one of the tweets the 22-year-old posted Tuesday afternoon before deleting them, "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F*** OFF!" CNN has reached out to Brown's rep, who has yet to respond.

He followed that up Wednesday with a message to the press: "Dear media, your plan is not working. I'm not going anywhere so get used to me."

It was just three years ago, many detractors said, that the world was learning more about his assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna, which happened before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

A Washington Post op-ed pointed out that while people should have second chances, that doesn't mean "they deserve the chance to strut around the Grammys stage a few years after being convicted of felony assault." The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg tweeted Sunday, "Chris Brown? I don't look to the Grammys for moral clarity, but, really? Do the words 'felony assault' mean anything at all?"

In addition to media critiques of Brown's Grammy appearance, celebrities like Miranda Lambert, Jack Osbourne and Michelle Branch also openly disagreed with the Recording Academy's decision to have Brown be a part of their program.

Lambert posted after checking out the show, "Not cool that we act like that didn't happen. He needs to listen to [my song] 'Gunpowder' and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys." Osbourne, meanwhile, says that while he's been getting "Chris Brown hate mail," the singer's supporters still haven't changed his mind.

"Ok ok...I'll stop," he wrote Tuesday. "All you Chris Brown supporters are right. I am wrong...but before I go, remember one thing.... #chrisbrownbeatswomen."

According to MTV, the president of the Recording Academy, Neil Portnow, has explained that the Grammys show is dictated by the Academy's voting, and added, "If we're going to get in trying to personally evaluate artists in terms of their personal lives, that's a slippery slope that we wouldn't want to get into."

Meanwhile, Brown returned to Twitter Wednesday afternoon to thank his fans.

"TeamBreezy, the Grammy I received was for those of you who supported my music and the hard work and growth in my life," Brown wrote. "I thank you! Love U!"

Look I understand that it is wrong for a man to put his hands on a woman, but there is not one person in this world that has not made a mistake, leave that boy alone. Whatever happened that night is between him and the Lord, and not for us to judge. That is what is wrong with the world today everybody so caught up with somebody elses issuse worry about your own. Mrs lambert conentrate on your life. Are you perfect. No. Then let that young man do his thing. Would you have been so critical if it had been uuummm ELVIS. I don't think so. I am sure Chris has replayed that night in his mind a 1000 times let it rest . And if it is so important to you then donate some of your time and money to the shelter for abused women and children. I think too many people are bearing this burden of unforgiveness for Chris Brown. People should leave him alone and move on with their lives. No one is perfect, we all have done bad things and would like to be forgiven. Stop hating on one individual, clear your hearts and mind.

Let's be real here people. I am not real big fan of Rihanna or Chris Brown. But, before Chris Brown assaulted Rihanna and was charged. Here is Virginia we have seen Chris and Rihanna together and Rihanna was hitting Chris and cursing at him. It's only been one side to the story told and I don't believe in a man hitting a women. I wish we could have seen Chris mug shot that night of the asault. I know she tore him into too. I feel and when I saw the couple out together, they are not good for each other. They bring out the worst in each other and I felt if they stayed together it would have been another Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. Also, for statements Miranda Lambert, Jack Osbourne and Michelle Branch made it was not called for. I know each one of them ask for forgiveness for something that happen in there lives or someone in there lives, especially Jack Osborne. He really doesn't have room to talk. We all know what happen between Chris Brown and Rihanna it's time to stop talking about old news and pray that both Chris and Rihanna have seek help for there problem. REMEMBER FORGIVENESS STARTS WITH YOU!

oh, and for those who like to say everyone makes mistakes...not all mistakes are equal. someone can apologize as many times as they want, but unless they genuinely mean it, those apologies mean nothing. plus, i'm sure a big reason rihanna has forgiven him is because it's far more personal for her, so putting it behind her is something she needed to do more so than anyone else. the reason everyone else has a harder time forgiving and forgetting is because chris brown is an international figure, and his actions make an impression on people, especially younger ones. do you people who defend him honestly think that if this was about a non-celebrity abuse that he'd be forgiven and welcomed so easily or that his sentence by the court be the same as it was?

Not really because the only people that it would really affect are the people involved. It would be different if there was prolonged evidence of physical abuse, but was there? All I'm saying is there's 2 sides to everything the media immediately took Rhianna's because she was the female: therefore, the victim. If a guy and a girl gets into an argument or fight that was initiated on both sides who's gonna get arrested first?

He beat the crap out of her get it KajinPl.. It wasn't cause she was the female, it was cause she was the one who ended up in the hospital!!! If she had hospitalized him, she would have been arrested. And, do you REALLY think it was the first time, or the first time he got caught? Get real Mr. Naive. And, it effects tons of young woman who look up to both these stupid jokers and think its OK.

@Stephanie You did not pay attention to a single word I typed, Mrs. Naive. Did I say that's what happened with Chris and Rhianna? No. Did I say it was right for Chris to her (or hit her back)? No. I made a general point. First off, he did the right thing by turning himself in. Second, no one knows what happened exactly, BUT THEM! NOT YOU, NOT ME! THEM!! Just the way the media handled it, there's was only one side: Rhianna's. No one heard Chris's side because it immediately became invalid. Rhianna spoke out first, pictures of her were surfaced first, that's all the needed. End of story. Stop being so gullible and read between the lines for a change. It's not always one person's fault.

Chris Brown has a problem controlling his anger on twitter, and twice in his young years he exploded in physical violence. To me, this is a personal problem he has and is nowhere near the chronic violent behavior of many celebreties – who are grown men. He spent two years apologizing for his stupid 60 seconds of hitting Rihanna (very likely in response to a smack from her). And the hair? in response – the day of his album release – to an interview about the Rihanna fight and HARDLY about the album that was defining that day FOR HIM. No one mentions that the next day ABC basically admitted their mistake and invited him to come back on the show asap.

He is a phenomal entertainer and 98% of the time is a humble country kid who has to live with this burden for the rest of his life. He has perserved very hard to gain respect from his industry again. Rihanna has complimented and rooted for him for this. Wish those despising him would see the larger picture

Stupid 60 seconds of hitting Rihanna?

Chris Brown did not just "hit" Rihanna. He beat her so viciously that she had to be hositalized. After beating her, he fled the scene. She could have died from suffocating on her own blood or from lack of oxygen from being choked in a headlock.

These facts need to be repeated over and over and over becuase, clearly, some people are just not getting it.

This kid hasn't learned anything except that throwing chairs, punching woman, and swearing at people is ok behavior. People are angry at him because he beat a woman and no matter what anyone does they do not deserve to be hit. There is no wiggle room on this subject. Being an adult isn't just about being able to make money it is also about being responsible and controlled. A five year old throw a tantrum when they don't want to go to bed but an adult know they need to go to bed even if they don't want to. He has been given many chances and every time he has blown them with that temper of his. Everyone gets angry and plenty of people don’t throw chairs or beat people. I am angry at Chris Brown getting a Grammy but instead of swearing and throwing things I control myself and channel it correctly. Chris Brown doesn't need to be perfect he just needs to remorseful, respectful, and control his temper. He hasn’t done any of that but he has thrown a chair at a window. He doesn't deserve a Grammy because he isn't redeemed just faking it for the cameras. Anyone who defends him is just lying to themselves. Talent only takes you so far and the rest is positivity and hard work.

It's kinda hard when to keep your cool when people refuse to move on and focus on what he's been trying to do instead of keep trying to tear him down.

The sad part about this is that you think this is a race issue.... when it isn't at all. When Mel Gibson freaked out on his wife, everyone did the same thing they are doing to Brown. Congrats on being petty enough to think everything is about race.

Get over the g*d d*mn race card. You insult every African American with that BS. It's not OK for Black people to beat women. It's not OK for White people to beat woman. To try and bring race in– to try and hide behind race hurts every African American by insinuating that there is cultural acceptance, or that all blacks should come to his defense. What an insult to every proud black person who would never accept such violence.

Do you even know the definition of Liberal? What's so wrong with being liberal?
"Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things, every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, 'Liberal,' as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won't work."

Haters will keep on hating, and lovers will always love. Chris made a mistake, he served his punishment uner the laws of the land, he has made thousands of apologies, and the woman he hurt, has forgiven him. So why others who are not directly involved keep on hating beggers belief. So the likes of Miranda Lambert, Jack Osbourne and Michelle Branch are all now saints who have never made errors in their lives? phew!! Some people are just so miopic in their thinking and lives. Chris has come back strong and concentrated on his music, and has been rewarded by the majority music loving fans. The media and the likes of the names mentioned, should live it with or get another life. The likes of 50 cent, Jay-Z, The Game, Snoop, have sold class A drugs, shot guns at people and received gun shots, as well as performing in awards, and winning them, but the media and the likes of Miranda Lambert, Jack Osbourne and Michelle Branch dont speak up, cos you know why, they are chickens, who know what will come their way when they stick their noses in some tough guys business. Past that, I wish people looked into Rihanna's background as extensively as they'd done to him. We were not in the car.....so how are we to know what truly transpired? There are women who inflict bodily harm to themselves and know that the male will get blamed...so many ways it could have went...so let's not point the finger. I think the problem is, it effects hundreds of thousands of young woman everyday. This isn't something to be taken lightly. Both Rihanna and Chris are role models, like it or not. We can't just say "it's only about the music" because it isn't. Verbal apologies and one woman's forgiveness don't usually change woman beaters into saints. How many men have you known like this? They don't change without years of psychotherapy and self-analysis. It isn't just "he made a mistake." It takes a very violent man to do what he did, and I doubt very much that he changed. We will hear about this again. By the public moving on, we are sending a statement that domestic violence is no big deal. Is one man's music more important than the issue of societal violence against woman? Aren't there other talented R&B singers to support. That is where I struggle.

Now go find a man whose willing to beat the s-hit out of you AND screw you and you will be fulfilling your ultimate goal in life!

Also all this -eezy nonsense needs to go. It's just pathetic at this point. The genepool of r&b and rap is so watered down by now it's lost all meaning and is a parody of its former self. I actually like some of Brown's songs, but he needs to tone his ego down. Seriously the media "plan" is to keep him around as a violent curiosity to make money off of. Enjoy being a wealthy sideshow that wealthier freaks use.

Actually, there is one "eezy" that is still funny.

      "Weezy"

It is a great nickname for all big fat black women. You know , the ones who move their neck back and forth when they talk. The ones who look like the lady on aunt jemima syrup bottles.

Call them weezy. That is still really funny.

    Conrad Hilton?

    Winston Churchill?

Let's get something straight. Chris Brown nearly killed Rihanna. That's right. He beat her so badly that she was suffocating in her own blood. Brown choked Rihanna into semi-consciousness. He bit her. And then he fled the scene.

Anyone else would have been charged with attempted murder. Brown got lucky with a felony assault conviction.

He is a violent sociopath who has not shown any remorse or understanding for his crime. And I have no doubt he will act out again.

This is not a mistake. It is a violent crime. Second chances are for people who have changed. Chris Brown has not.

Well played CB76! If anyone would actually bother to read the police report, they would see that he gave Rihanna a vicious beating. I do believe in giving people a second chance if they are deserving of it, but Chris has not shown that. His actions show that he has a very bad temper and the tweets and chair throwing are examples of that. It's just a matter of time before he beats on someone again.

Conrad Hilton once said “Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit.”

Winton Churchill also said: All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes.”

Chris brown should be seen as a successful man and we should be proud of him and encourage him to move.

Every one of us has made mistakes in our life and which at one point in time regretted our actions but we try to put them behind us and move on with our lives.

Even the Gods of every religion accept repented souls and forgive them their sins.

So why is Chris Brown’s case exceptional even when he said he was sorry 1 million times?

If the Grammy should be judged by the mistakes of these celebrities, then no one would have been illegible enough to attend the Grammy because almost all of then have had scandals in their life.

To me this has gone beyond criticism to envying his achievements.

i NEVER said what he did was okay! but i'm saying that people shouldn't try and hold him back from living his life because of a terrible action he made at such a young age. that was his first time ever hurting a woman and i think he has learned, but him lashing out at the constant harassment only seems like frustration, not him trying to defend his 2009 offense.

Chantel – I agree that he should be left alone. People shouldn't forget what he did, but he should be able put it behind him. That being said, he isn't doing himself any favors. He said he moved on and grew up, but then he freaked out during an interview, trashed the dressing room, ripped off his shirt screaming and threw a chair out a window. Now he tweets childish things like "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate Fcuk OFF!". If he wants people to leave him alone and stop bringing up his assault charge, he needs to stop being a punk.

Why does Brown think its the medias fault that people dislike him? Anyone who saw the picture of Rihannas face after he beat her up will never forget what he did. He is crazy if he thinks the media has done anything but forgive and forget sooner than he had any right to. How dare he show his face- how dare he perform anything but public apologies.
