Adele: Five years off? More like five daysAdele mentioned in the March issue of Vogue that she wants to take "four or five years" off, but the singer seems to have amended that to five days. In a bubbly blog post on her site - titled "5 was my favourite number but now it's 6" - the 23-year-old relishes her six wins at the Grammys on Sunday. "I'm absolutely flabbergasted! In between laughing my head off, welling up, needing to sit down and trying to maintain an open fire...I keep having flashbacks to Sunday night," she writes. "The most incredible night of my life."
Even though we all know how much of a success Adele was in 2011, she swears she didn't think she stood a chance at the awards ceremony. After issuing more gratitude, particularly towards her fans - or "daydreamers" - she writes, "The night itself was so amazing, I met so many incredible people and everyone we’ve lost this year were on our minds and in our hearts and it was lovely to remember them all together as fans and friends." Next up, after a few days of rest for the singer, is another performance at the Brit Awards, and then "it's straight into the studio," she writes. "Five years? More like five days!" And it'll be interesting to see what she rolls out next. Adele (full name: Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, if you're curious) told Vogue that now that she's in a relationship with beau Simon Konecki, she's ready "to write a happy record, and be in love and be happy." “He’s wonderful,” Adele says of Konecki. “And he’s proud of me, but he don’t care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don’t think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn’t been for him.” It sounds like he might also lend some inspiration. "I am never writing a breakup record again, by the way," she says. "I'm done being a bitter witch."

You see by the comments below that this is what the "entertainment" industry has turned into. Of the people who posted here, less than 1% are music lovers. If you, as an artist, don't have the tights and the came ltoe, then you're nothing. That's why people like SpitBall are millionaires, and you are buying lotto tickets. I don't blame the music industry, I blame the idiots who support the brain dead music scene today. "All foreground and no background." You don;t even have to be able to play an instrument, or sing to "make it" today. So while people like her make it on the strength of her talent alone, those to whom she is only a fat woman remain fat between the ears and, to them, a simple shrug off with some sort of cute comment is all that is necessary to move onto the next thing. So do it.
Take another look at the picture above. She's lost it and thinks she's holding McDonald's Happy Meals. HA HA HA. Come on. Look at her. You know I'm right.

I don't know of any artist that I pay attention to that has cancelled as many shows as she has. She was suppossed to come to NC twice and both were cancelled. This article can say what it wants to and she is a great talent, but as a working musician I don't see the road chops for the kind of stardom she has evident so far. I hope that is proven wrong.
I love her personality and her looks. She is bringing back 50's glamour AND her record "21" ain't too shabby either.
This is the second time I've seen quotes from her that are grammatical trash. E.g. "but he don't care about what I do". She may be able to sing, but past that she seems to possess the intellectual agility of a small soap dish.
I'm a classical singer myself and noticed a difference in Adele's voice at the Grammy's in her vocal placement. Her voice was the same, but slighly different in where she was singing from. Hopefully the doctors had a vocal coach there to tell her that she needed to do something besides surgery to preserve her voice. I love her talent, only wish her well.
To all you poeple giving her crap about her wieght-
our society seems thinks that if a person wieghs over 140lbs, they should be ashamed of themselves espesially if they are in the puplic eye alot. That isn't healthy AT ALL. So stop trying to make her feel bad about herself.

Only 23 and has had major vocal cord surgery! She will be finnished in a few years. She sounds cool but it is a total inproper singing technique.
So she does have a last name. It really irks me when someone thinks they're so important, everyone should know who they are just from one name (Cher, Bono, Madonna, etc.). Nothing but self adoration.
I think Adele is really overrated. Her voice is rather average. I'm tired of people acting like the only way somebody can have talent is if they stand behind a mic and stand. That's not always an indication of the best talent.
I think Adele has an amazing voice and really enjoy her "21" album. Not usually my type of music but she conveys such passion that I can't help but listen. As for her weight, I think she looked great at the Grammys, it seriously looked like she lost at least 30 pounds.
Unfortunately, nobody that deserved to win was nominated.

I strongly disagree with Guest. What I was referring to was that Adele has a great vocal range - akin to Presley (not Pressley), Turner and the like. Even though they were entertainers, they had great voices. Katy Perry was barely audible and Nicky Minaj (sp) was outright terrible. Theatrics alone do not make you great.

For those who think her vocal cord surgery was nothing...Julie Andrews had similar polyps years ago, and after her surgery, she could barely sing any more. New advances may restore her voice, but that was a serious concern for Adele.

It's refreshing when someone with a fantastic voice as Adele comes along. She has more talent in her pinkie than Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj (sp) put together. Adele sang at the Grammys: pure and simple - no theatrics. That is what you call a star !
I completely disagree. Adele is a vocalist, pure and simple. Gaga, Perry, Minaj are entertainers, e.g. artist. Would you say that Pressley, Jackson, Turner, Brown were not stars because they didn't stand on stage behind a mic for a two hour set. Truth is they are two completely different genres.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. 1. Making a go of it in the music biz is exhaustingly hard work. I've been a professional musician. It's not an easy life and you work your butt off. 2. She has never acted like she's going to die from her surgery. Can YOU imagine the possiblity of losing your voice? Even without singing being your life and livelihood, that's an awful thing to face. 3. There is NOTHING standard about vocal chord surgery. Your vocal chords are tiny and extremely delicate. The surgery is rare because few surgeons are up to the task. 4. Her "dude" has you call him, is most certainly not in it for the money. He comes from a very wealthy family, is a successful businessman in his own right, and can afford to devote all his time to the charity he founded. He doesn't need any of her money.
Next time, know what you are talking about before you mouth off, mister.
Oh, and another thing: The 5 years off comment was clearly a joke. It's all over the news today that she's heading back to the studio right after her appearance at the Brit Awards next Monday evening.

I'm remembering the opera singer Maria Callas, who like alot of opera singers of her day was heavy. They used that as a sounding board to spring the voice from – when she lost the weight and became slim and glamorous (she lost Ari Onassis to Jackie Kennedy) alot of her volume went with it. They needed that volume to reach the back seats in halls – this was before modern accoustic systems. So there's a price you pay. As long as Adele is healthy she should concentrate on her music. But all these awards spells pressure to produce, to be on shows and make records. That pressure is part of what killed Whitney Houston.
