Mary J. Blige looking on the bright side after Oscar snubPatton Oswalt and Daniel Radcliffe weren't the only ones feeling the burn of being overlooked by the Academy: R&B star Mary J. Blige says she too was disappointed that her song, "The Living Proof" from "The Help," wasn't nominated in the best original song category. The artist tweeted about it when the nominations were announced, and tells CNN that the snub "hurt because we put our heart and soul into it and we worked really hard." "You know, I wrote that song from [the] heart," she went on, adding that she's chalking it up to a learning experience. "I believe that God has something better. When something like that happens you just got to look at the bright side and say, 'Something better will come along.'” Blige, who is also part of Bono's (RED) initiative, which helps combat HIV/AIDS, says she's happy that she's able to do something better with her stardom. “I believe we lend our celebrity status to something because people will say, ‘Well if they are doing it, then we want to be a part of it too.' And I just don’t feel that we were given these careers and this platform and all of this superstar status to just be selfish with it. And the gift that we’ve been given is to draw people in.” |

It sounds racist, but it's probably not. The kid probably has no idea what he is saying. All he knows is he gets no attention, is lonely and starved for any kind of human interaction, even being scolded at by others. He chooses whatever is most inflammatory to each topic, types away and waits for all the attention to roll in. Kid is just socially mal-adjusted and desperate.
Racism is alive & well in the Oscar nomination process & on this thread! The song was beautiful, the movie was poignant & the theme should have been nominated! But, alas, MJB is a little too hip-hop for the Academy! Oh well, maybe next year!!
If she hadn't left Ari's agency, she would have got the nomination. Don't mess with Ari.
Mary Should have had Celine Dion record that song. Then it would have been nominated, would win, and Mary would get the oscar.

The Academy Scoring members made a huge mistake not to nominate "The Living Proof". Such a beautiful song ! People relate to pain and joy .. Bottom Line !
And Mary J is the best in todays music to translate emotion in song and at concerts. Trust me Hollywood is begging her to sing a song for there film project.. And the Oscar opportunity will present itself again. Her talent cannot be denied ..
