Madonna on M.I.A. bird flip: It was out of placeMadge stayed mum when her co-performer, M.I.A., flipped off America during the Super Bowl, but the singer is now speaking out. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Friday, Madonna said she honestly had no idea M.I.A. had even done it. "I was really surprised," Madonna tells Seacrest. "I didn't know anything about it."
And when she learned of M.I.A.'s middle finger brouhaha, she says she "wasn't happy about it." "I understand it's punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative," the performer said. "It's such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do. There was such a feeling of love and unity there, what was the point? It was just out of place." A source close to M.I.A. said the artist didn't do the action intentionally, saying she was "nervous and not thinking," and that "adrenaline took over." "It wasn't meant as a gesture or statement of any kind," the source continued. "She feels horrible for putting Madonna in that position. She messed up."

Young punk M.I.A. proved her immaturity and lack of class and ensured she will never get an invite to perform on any kind of a national (much less global) scale. Way to sink your career with one bend of a finger. Stupid. Madonna was O.K. She gets around pretty well for an old gal like me. And she should look good...she has endless amounts of time and financial resources to take care of herself. If my job was to look good, dance and sing, I'd look like a million bucks, too.
MIA got EXACTLY what she wanted. Everyone is talking about her, and her photo was all over the media. Her expletive-laden "flip off" was about as spontaneous as Janet Jackson's boob flop-out.
Madonna is right, it was a childish thing to do. But that sure sounds hypocritical coming from someone whose self-promotion stunts when she was younger included a strut down Rodeo Drive at noon...boob-jiggling, spraggle-ass nekkid.
She was dumb for doing a stupid thing that was hardly noticed. I was more offended that David Beckham did a commerical where he was practically naked. Where's the uproar about that???
You idiots need to grow a pair and move along already. The show was lame, uninspiring just like every super bowl show but hardly offensive. If it's that offensive, start digging that bunker so you can hide yourself from humanity and wait for the rapture to come or whatever you people do to escape reality.
