Singers Nick and Aaron Carter are suffering a loss. Their sister Leslie, an aspiring singer, has passed away at the age of 25, CNN confirms.
"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter," the Carter family says in a statement. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."
E! News reports that she passed away Tuesday in upstate New York. Like her brothers, Leslie also had an interest in music, and her song "Like Wow!" was featured on the 2001 "Shrek" soundtrack. She also appeared with her siblings on the 2006 E! reality show, "House of Carters."
According to People magazine, Leslie welcomed a daughter in April of 2011.
Update, 2:03 p.m.: If you were planning on seeing Nick Carter's concert stop in NYC tomorrow, the singer has announced that the show will go on as planned.
Carter says in a statement that he's thankful to those "who have shared their wishes and prayers during this tragic time," and that he plans to continue with his tour "as promised."
“Performing is cathartic to me," he said, "and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform."
