Hoboken denies film permit for 'Shore' spinoff

Although Seaside Heights is awash in publicity thanks to MTV's "Jersey Shore," Hoboken, New Jersey seems to want none of it.

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer has denied a film permit that would allow a "Jersey Shore" spinoff to film in public locations in the interest of "protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents," a statement on the city's website says.

In a letter addressed to a representative of "Jersey Shore's" production company, 495 Productions, Zimmer further details the decision, noting that the proposed filming locations would "take place on the very doorsteps and beneath the windows of our citizens, unnecessarily degrading their quality of life." You can read the letter in full here.

There are a few "Jersey Shore" spinoffs said to be in the works, including one for Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio and another for Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jenni "JWoww" Farley, and it sounds like the show in question could possibly be the one featuring Snooki and JWoww.

While Zimmer doesn't specify, she does mention that 495 Productions was seeking to film a show that would "follow the daily activities of two well-known reality television celebrities" throughout the city, including their activities in a Hoboken apartment. 495 Productions later confirmed that they were hoping to film Snooki and JWoww's project in the city.

In the end, the permit application was denied because city officials unanimously felt that production there would have a negative impact on "the health, safety and welfare of our community."

495 Productions, however, can appeal the decision.

While MTV doesn't comment on series that are in production, 495 Productions tells CNN in a statement that they appreciate the consideration "of our application for a permit to shoot Snooki and JWoww’s spinoff in Hoboken," adding, "We hope to find a way to work together in the future.”

And people wonder why I have started watching sci-fi... If I have to watch another reality show I will give up tv. I know they are getting cheap about shows but they have to know that everyone is about freaking tired of them right?

miscatonic: There will be a laoredbeard posted pretty soon – I suspect either tomorrow or Friday.IndieRockLance: You are correct, rewritten synopses do not count. Otherwise it would be quite simple to rewrite the same synopsis over and over, getting credit each time. This contest is for new synopses only.

Does that mean they're planning on airing 3 or 4 Jersey Shore shows per season? Just shoot my tv now.
