While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
Potential Ryan Murphy film could star Paltrow, Diaz, BeyonceRyan Murphy looks to have a feature film trick up his sleeve, one that would put together plenty of star power. According to Entertainment Weekly, Murphy's kicking around a musical comedy concept called "One Hit Wonders" with Sony. The movie would focus on three pop stars who hit it big in the '90s only to find their careers fading just as quickly as they became popular. Instead of staying down and out, the three form a pop super-group - and it looks like Murphy wants Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon to fill those roles. He'd also find ways to use Andy Samberg and Beyonce in the cast, although their roles aren't specified. This is all super-preliminary anyway, as the project isn't a done deal for anyone, nor is there a script. However, should the movie get made, Murphy would write it with his "Glee" counterparts Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk. Megan Fox: I'd rather be in a bad movie with good peopleWhen choosing roles, it sounds like Megan Fox pays just as much attention to her potential co-workers as she does to the offered part. "I'd rather be with good people in a bad movie than the other way around," the 25-year-old tells Manhattan magazine. Hopefully, the upcoming "Friends with Kids" will show that Fox was able to have a good movie and cool co-workers, too. "Most of the cast knew each other very well already," she said of working with Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm and his partner, Jennifer Westfeldt. "It was such a nice, welcoming, supportive environment." Julia Roberts: What Meryl Streep's daughter taught meJulia Roberts, as one of Hollywood's most famous moms, has learned a thing or two from the offspring of one of the pros: Meryl Streep. Streep, 62, is mom to 25-year-old actress Grace Gummer, who was in last year's "Larry Crowne," and Roberts tells Vanity Fair in its April issue that Grace gave her a new perspective on what it means to have a parent in the limelight. "Grace comes up and goes, 'Gosh, it's so sweet seeing all your kids on the set. It reminds me of when I was little, and I would go see my mom work," Roberts, who's a mom of three, recalls to VF. Are Taylor Swift and Tim Tebow dating? Will Taylor Swift be the next singer to dedicate a song to Tim Tebow? There's a video going around that has some wondering if the country star and the pro football player are dating. Celebuzz cited anonymous sources last week who said the two were awfully chatty at a pre-Oscars party, and there's now another report that Tebow and Swift shared a meal on Monday. Clevver News claims that the two arrived together at an L.A. restaurant for dinner, after which Tebow walked Swift out. Elizabeth Olsen's big fear? Water - thanks to 'Jaws'Elizabeth Olsen's upcoming thriller "Silent House," about a young woman (Olsen) who becomes trapped in her family's summer home, sounds plenty scary, and Olsen admits that filming it freaked her out a bit. "It took a long time to wind down from this movie," Olsen said. "It was a lot," noting the fact that the movie is presented in real time, made to look like one continuous shot, which heightens the tension. "It’s just a whole new way of watching an event," Olsen said. "It’s exciting to figure out how all of this fear and terror can happen in real time without any [obvious] camera tricks." Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck welcome baby boy SamuelIt's a boy for Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, who welcomed their third child Monday. Affleck has posted on his Facebook page that they're "happy to announce" that "Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Samuel Garner Affleck." Affleck and Garner, both 39, also have daughters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3. Garner has said the two girls had ideas for the baby name, and it looks like she was able to steer them away from some of their more creative suggestions. Lindsay Lohan's more of a 'homebody' nowEven through her legal ups and downs, we knew Lindsay Lohan had a sense of humor - if only because of how often "Mean Girls" is on TV. And in a promo for her fourth "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig, which will air on Saturday, Lohan shows she's still got a handle on comedic timing - even when she's making fun of herself. Paired with Kenan Thompson, she jokes that it does feel good to be back in the spotlight, as "people are probably wondering what I've been up to." Jolie's leg takes on a life of its ownIf Angelina Jolie isn't careful, her right leg is going to snatch the next star role right out from under her. It's not that the pose the actress struck at the Oscars was unusual - a number of stars have purposefully displayed a scintillating bit of skin through the slit of a gown (with exhibit A being Jennifer Aniston, the ex-wife of Jolie's partner, Brad Pitt.) But Jolie's dedication to putting her right leg front and center has sparked a meme that popular culture just can't kick. Meryl Streep donates $10k to Rhode Island schoolNo matter what happens at the Academy Awards, there's clearly no tension between Meryl Streep and Viola Davis. CNN affiliate WPRI reports that Streep has donated $10,000 to the Segue Institute for Learning, a charter school in her fellow best actress nominee Viola Davis' hometown of Central Falls, Rhode Island. Davis has previously donated to her hometown's cash-strapped library, and has spoken about how close the Segue school is to her heart. |
