Thomas Langmann, one of the producers of “The Artist,” always had a love for traditional cinema.
Not surprising for a man who grew up in a family immersed in filmmaking. His father was Claude Berri, an acclaimed French actor, writer, producer and director who won the Oscar in 1966 for the short film “Le Poulet,” and was involved in the industry for more than 50 years.
So when Michel Hazanavicius, "The Artist's" director, approached him with his idea of a black-and-white silent movie about a silent movie star’s rise and fall, Langmann didn't say no because he had a dream.
Bound to confuse celebrity-couple-watchers everywhere, Jay Cutler has said that he and his fiancee, Kristin Cavallari, never actually broke up.
Cutler, 28, announced this revelation while thanking fans for their supportive responses to the news that the couple are now expecting their first child.
"We couldn't be more excited," Cutler wrote. "We don't usually comment on our relationship but for the record I never broke up with Kristin. Its unfortunate some people are saying hurtful things during such a joyous moment in our life."
When reality TV queen Kim Kardashian swung by "Live! With Kelly" on Monday, she and host Kelly Ripa spent some of their time rehashing the backlash to Kim's intent to divorce.
Many have alleged that Kim's brief marriage to pro basketball player Kris Humphries was nothing more than another way for the endorsement-happy star to line her pockets, a claim that Kim has continuously denied.
If that were true, she told Kelly, then getting divorced was "a bad business decision."
An Oscar nod for best original screenplay was a far cry from Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig’s humble hopes for their now nominated “Bridesmaids.”
“When we wrote this movie, we were just hoping to get a movie made. That was our goal,” Mumolo told CNN. “Getting the movie made really was a dream come true. [A nomination] is beyond anything I could have imagined.”
Despite the Academy’s praises - Melissa McCarthy is nominated for best supporting actress for her role in the comedy - there’s not a “Bridesmaids” sequel in the works.
There was plenty of cat-fighting, romance and adventure on last night's episode of "The Bachelor," as Ben Flajnik took the 13 remaining women to Park City, Utah.
And while most of the attention was given to Courtney the model's feud with all but one of her opponents, a peculiar incident during the group date caused this blogger to scratch his head.
Following a group date involving fly fishing, Ben and the women went poolside (oh joy, another pool) to mingle. After spending some time with Nicki the dental hygienist, Ben came face-to-face with Samantha, the woman who wore a beauty pageant sash on the first episode.
When Oscar season rolls around, the biggest debate often happens over who was snubbed by the Academy.
But the annual round of nominations also offers something else: A mainstream spotlight for films you might've overlooked when they were released.
Demián Bichir, who picked up an Oscar nod for best actor in Chris Weitz's "A Better Life," is hoping that's the case for their project.
