Tracy Morgan falls ill at Sundance“30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan was rushed to the hospital on Sunday night after collapsing at the Sundance Film Festival. The actor was being honored at the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards and fell unconscious shortly after his acceptance speech, according to Variety. Morgan’s rep confirmed to CNN that his client is being treated after falling ill during the event. CNN iReporter Chris Barrett captured footage of Morgan attending the awards ceremony on Sunday, about an hour before he passed out, Barrett tells CNN. Barrett added that he thought the 43-year-old actor was injured. “It looked like he was limping on the way into the venue," Barrett says. "He was being held up by multiple people. I thought he had a sprained ankle initially."
However, Morgan's rep tells CNN that the actor sought medical attention thanks to "a combination of exhaustion and altitude." The rep adds that Morgan "is with his fiancée and grateful to the Park City Medical Center for their care. Any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100 percent false.” Industry trade pub Variety claims that Morgan appeared to be intoxicated during the ceremony, but a hospital spokesperson corroborated his rep’s denial, saying no drugs or alcohol were found in Morgan’s system. Morgan suffers from diabetes and had a kidney transplant in 2010.

He has significant periorbital edema which is not a good sign in someone who has had renal transplant. He must take anti-rejection meds and large doses of steroids to avoid GVHD and this requires a rigorous schedule. I wonder if he has been able to maintain this? Indeed, T2DM is the scourge of our time (yes, it does hit the AA population hard, but cauc. American is running a very close 2nd. If his kidneys are failing, this could be very serious indeed. I am certain too, that whatever familial discontent is percolating with his mother is making the process more difficult. I know he has good medical care, though, unlike so many other folks. Eat right fellow Americans, please!
