What is Liz's secret on '30 Rock'?It's been a long time (since May, to be exact) since we've had new "30 Rock," so Thursday night's season premiere was a sight for sore eyes. The new season saw Liz on cloud nine, Jenna judging "America'z Kids Got Singing," Jack conflicted about canceling her show, and Kenneth looking forward to the end of days. Liz was happy – too happy, in fact. Something was up.
Jenna, on the other hand, was laughing all the way to the bank by crushing little kids' dreams on national television ("Congratulations, you're a disgrace"), while sitting by John McEnroe, the nice judge. New parent Jack (whose wife is still in North Korea) was *thisclose* to pulling the plug on the whole thing when his daughter said the words "I love mommy," which Jack interpreted as "I love money," so the show was saved. Pete and the "TGS" writers resisted the temptation to poke fun at Kenneth's beliefs about the apocalypse (Pete made them stop, even though three of them were dressed as the devil, Santa Claus and Jesus), and showed Kenneth the ocean for the first time. This, combined with the revelation that Liz has a secret, unseen boyfriend, made for one of the best endings for a "30 Rock" episode in recent memory. So, who is Liz's new man? We'll see how long before that's revealed. What did you think of the premiere, and what are your theories on Liz's boyfriend? Share your view on iReport or comment below. |

Why is this mess even on the air? It stinks, it always has stunk and always will.

Not sure what to think – will have to see it in context of the next few episodes. As a stand-alone episode I didn't like the writing – the arc with Kenneth was so NOT how they'd treat that character in past seasons. He's portrayed as off-the-deep-end in his background and outlook, but never quite this much in his actions. And they had WAY too much make-up on Tina Fey. I agree with AmezDD that the episode just looked different from past seasons, and I'll extend into saying that the writing and acting was different too.
I LOVE 30Rock, it will always be one of my favorites no matter what direction they take the show, but this was such a strange episode – aside from it looking differently (smaller budget, perhaps? SHAME on you, NBC), Tina Fey's portrayal of a happy Liz Lemon were a little too off character for me. Also, where were Grizz & DotCom?
What's up with the diaper?
Well LIz Lemmon is cool. And funny and cute. We approve of this show in UTAH THE BEAUTIFUL. If our good Mitt is elected maybe it will be shown more often.
The new boyfriend is James Marsden, that's old news.
