While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
Ricky Martin at work on 'Glee,' shoots down wedding rumorsIt looks like Ricky Martin is filling the role of the "hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio" on "Glee" just fine. News that the 40-year-old singer was in talks for the guest role arrived last November, and on Thursday, Martin tweeted a photo of himself clad in all-black on his first day of work. But while Martin is putting in work on the "Glee" set, rumors have been bouncing about that he's getting ready to tie the knot with boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez Abella on January 28. Expect to hear a lot less from Chris BrownIf Chris Brown has seemed rather quiet lately, it's all going according to plan. Brown's manager, Tina Davis, tells Billboard that the strategy for the 22-year-old singer/actor is to "not have him do interviews, but concentrate on performing and recording." She adds that it's something they've been planning for a while. "We're not trying to be rude, selfish or disrespectful in any way. If people are going to judge anything, judge him for his talent. He signed up to sing and entertain, not to talk about his personal life," she says. Van Halen announces tour, album release datesSince sharing their intent to get back on the road with frontman David Lee Roth in 2012, Van Halen is giving fans some stops to mark on their calendars. The tour will launch in Louisville, Kentucky on February 18 at the KFC Yum! Center, and will wrap up in New Orleans on June 26. Tickets will go on sale for the first 13 or so stops starting January 14. (Pre-sale starts January 10.) And if you can't make it to a concert, Van Halen also has a new album coming out. Did Justin Timberlake's grandma spill engagement news?Pretty much everyone but Justin Timberlake has said he's engaged to girlfriend Jessica Biel, with the latest person sharing the news reportedly being his grandmother. According to Gossip Cop, Timberlake's grandma, Sadie Bomar, has confirmed that he's engaged, saying the 30-year-old singer/actor called her on Christmas Day to say as much. She also reportedly said that she's "so happy" for her grandson, and that "the family loves Jessie [Biel], she's a very sweet girl." Aww! The Academy presents...an Oscars trailerThe Oscars are taking a page from the films they celebrate and offering a (tongue-in-cheek) trailer to whet viewers' appetites for the February 26 live telecast. The Academy recruited Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel for the minute-long clip, which sees the two former "Transformers" co-stars trying to locate Oscars host Billy Crystal. With Duhamel wearing an obvious mustache and Fox an incredulous, "am I really in this trailer?" expression, the duo seek out the one they call "the host," rumored to be dead by now, or perhaps turned into a yeti.
Drew Barrymore engaged to Will KopelmanDrew Barrymore is joining the parade of celebs who've decided to head toward the altar. The 36-year-old actress is engaged to art consultant Will Kopelman, her rep tells CNN. According to E!, the two have been dating for almost a year and got engaged over the holidays. Kopelman reportedly asked for Barrymore's hand in marriage while they were on a 10-day vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho. This'll be the third wedding for Barrymore, who was previously married to Tom Green for five months after their 1999 nuptials, and to club owner Jeremy Thomas for less than two months in 1994. 'The Martha Stewart Show' to end this yearThe Hallmark Channel is singing Martha Stewart's praises...as they prepare to say farewell to her daytime show this year. Reports have surfaced that Hallmark is canceling "The Martha Stewart Show," and a rep for the network says in a statement on behalf of Crown Media Family Networks and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia that the show will stick around through the end of the summer. "The daytime block on Hallmark Channel demonstrated year over year ratings growth and earned 'The Martha Stewart Show' two Daytime Emmy Awards in its first season on Hallmark," the statement congratulates. It then adds, "That show will continue to air through the end of summer 2012." 'Jersey Shore': Back in Seaside HeightsAfter making the most of their short time in Florence - by spending each day cooped up inside their house (drunk) - the “Jersey Shore” cast heads back to Seaside Heights at the start of season 5. Snooki chases a celebratory shot with pickle juice from the jar while Pauly D kisses his passport, vowing never to leave the U.S. again. The irony that their baggage - er luggage - is strewn across the main floor of the shore house isn’t lost on us. And it begins.
