Kathy Griffin did tell her New Year's Eve co-host Anderson Cooper to "be very worried" about Saturday night's show, so you can't say she didn't warn him.
As the duo brought in 2012 with CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast live from Times Square - complete with a "no nudity" and "no swearing" sign in place - Kathy channeled her inner Mother Monster and disrobed.
When the camera panned back from a break, there was Anderson in his layered sweaters, and Kathy - in a black lace bra.
"Are you freaking kidding me?" Anderson (repeatedly) asked her, after turning around to discover that Kathy had misplaced her dress.
"Lady Gaga's performance is over, and I was inspired," the 51-year-old comedian explained as Anderson tried to use the "no nudity" sign to cover her. "You've got a rocking body, by the way," the "AC: 360" host noted.
Kathy might've preferred to ring in 2012 in her underwear, but she did eventually put her dress back on.
Once Gary Tuchman, who was reporting from Central Park, appeared on screen with his 14-year-old daughter, Kathy decided to show less skin.
But at least one viewer was tickled by Kathy's antics: @Neanie48 tweeted, "u were fabulicious on #CNNNYE You really made a statement in ur underwear It's the BUZZ OF THE DAY! loved it"
Kathy's reply: "Tell my mom that."
