Overheard: Kelly Osbourne's not so merry Christmas

Losing a pet is never easy, but it seems it would only be that much worse on a holiday.

Kelly Osbourne and her family experienced exactly that on Christmas this year, as Kelly tweeted Sunday:

"Today is a sad day in the Osbourne family house hold we lost R dog martin of 14 years. Devastated does not quite sum it up! #NotSoMerryXmas"

But it sounds like some of the family's holiday guests were able to lift their spirits a bit. Kelly also thanked interior designer and reality star Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, tweeting, "its never quite a party with out you there daaaarling. you really cheered my mum up so thank you!"

Cirque du Soleil, the internationally renowned troupe of acrobats, dancers, contortionists, gymnasts, and circus-like performers, has finally set up a permanent show in Los Angeles, and the show couldn't have a better theme: filmmaking.

In its rollout of “IRIS: A Journey Through the World of Cinema,” the Cirque has appropriately chosen Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre as its tent, which some of you may know as the setting for the Oscars.

In fact, when the Academy Awards ceremony starts to prepare for its February 26 telecast next year, the show will take its annual hiatus, from January 23 to March 27.

O'Neill is said to have alleged in a lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court last week that she has about 7,168 hours of unpaid overtime, and is reportedly seeking $380,000 in compensation from Gaga's Mermaid Touring company.

Lady Gaga's holiday gift: 'Stuck on [bleep] you'

Lady Gaga was certainly in the holiday spirit this year. In addition to releasing an EP of seasonal tunes around Thanksgiving, she also had fans eagerly anticipating Christmas morning, when she said she'd release another "Born This Way" track.

Gaga announced the musical present last week, telling Little Monsters to be on watch for an "unreleased" and "uncensored" song that she'd crafted in one take on her tour bus.

Mel Gibson finalizes divorce

Mel Gibson's marriage to ex Robyn Moore is officially over - CNN confirmed that the actor's divorce was finalized on Friday.

An L.A. Superior Court judge signed off on his split from Robyn, with whom Gibson has seven children. The pair had been wed for nearly 30 years, according to People magazine, and reportedly did not have a prenuptial agreement.

As a result, People mag asserts that Robyn is legally entitled to half of what Mel earned during their lengthy marriage, as well as half of every future check he'll get from film residuals. The report notes that the actor's earnings were previously estimated to be as high as $850 million, according to a 2006 report in the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Neither Mel's legal representation nor Robyn's has yet returned a request for comment.
