Knowing that Steven Spielberg is an executive producer on this winter's behind-the-Broadway-scenes drama "Smash," the filmmaker's dream of working on a musical movie makes sense.
In fact, Spielberg tells CNN, he's been wanting to craft a musical for years.
“I’d love to do an old-fashioned musical, where the characters talk to each other and then they sing to each other. I’m such a fan of the Hollywood musical, but I haven't found the right subject matter or the right book or the right music to throw myself into one of them. But someday I will."
Perhaps before we see a musical from Spielberg, though, we'll get another installment of "Jurassic Park."
In June it was reported that Spielberg and screenwriter Mark Protosevich were mulling over a concept for a fourth installment of the franchise, and Spielberg promises that there will be one.
"We are still working on the story for another 'Jurassic Park' film," he says, adding that he can't spill details yet. "But there is going to be one! You have to wait and see!"
In the meantime, Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin," which star Jamie Bell has called "a beacon of excellence," opens December 21.
