If you thought Drew Ryniewicz's tears during last week's elimination were tough to watch, this week was no easier.
It was a difficult bottom two, with Rachel Crow and Marcus Canty both having to sing "survival" songs. But only one could stay, which meant someone else had to go...
After a deadlock decision, it was revealed that 13-year-old Rachel Crow was out. After letting the news sink in, the singer fell to her knees and began sobbing, which led Simon Cowell to rush to her aid. (He may have a reputation as a sourpuss, but clearly Cowell isn't a man without a heart.)
Judge Nicole Scherzinger, meanwhile, had to be comforted by Paula Abdul as she sat at the judges' table in tears. She probably needed another hug later on, as well, because the crowd booed her when she finally made an appearance on stage. Crow's mom also appeared to comfort her distraught daughter.
Nicole told Entertainment Weekly that she'd voted that Rachel should leave assuming Marcus would have been voted off, since he'd been in the bottom two before.
"Let's be honest here - I've gotten Marcus' back every week he's been in the bottom two. This is his third time in the bottom...The probability was that America would have sent Marcus home," she said.
Well, that didn't happen. But, Simon is envisioning bright things in Rachel's future.
"She's a 360 artist. I'm actually convinced she'll end up on Nickelodeon or Disney...We saw it happen with Jennifer Hudson," he said, recalling the former "Idol" contestant who went on to become a lauded singer and actress. "If you've got talent, I always say, everyone will support talent. They'll support tenacity."
As L.A. Reid said, this was an incredibly tough call. Do you think the judges made the right decision? And moreover, how tough was it to watch the elimination without getting emotional? You - or, your pets, apparently - can let us know with an iReport as well. Here's a kitty who thinks it's Nicole who should've been booted off.
