Adele's '21' goes quadruple-platinum

Critically acclaimed chanteuse Adele is receiving yet another accolade: The Brit's hit album “21” has earned the year’s highest certification to date.

According to a press release, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded the singer a quadruple-platinum plaque for her sophomore effort. (Platinum status is earned by selling one million units, by the way.)

Since its February release, “21” has been flying off the shelves - it was certified platinum by March.

The single “Someone Like You” in itself actually reached double-platinum status; the song has sold over two million U.S. downloads.

Although the singer had to cancel some of her performances because of health issues and an eventual vocal cord surgery, 2011 is shaping up to be a solid year for Adele. The 23-year-old bombshell is also expected to earn multiple Grammy nods when some of the nominations are announced tonight on CBS at 10 p.m.

Its like you learn my thoughts! You appear to understand so much about this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something. I believe that you simply could do with some p.c. to power the message home a little bit, however instead of that, that is wonderful blog. An excellent read. I'll definitely be back.

She has a great voice, but I remian neutral to her. There's nothing to go nuts over. Her songs are boring. Plus, she insulted Lady Gaga for her weight and hinted that that size was unhealthy.

We don't need people of Adele's size as role models for our children. Think about the children. What about the children? Adele is a health hazard.

She probably had a quadruple burger to celebrate her quadruple-platinum record.

In 2009 Susan Boyle, also British, achieved 4X Platinum (USA) in just 45 days, the fastest since Platinum began in 1984. But she got almost no coverage from CNN. Helps to be young and pretty I guess. Adele is 23 rather than 50. A young person's game still, even if she does keep her clothes on.

A sad song about your boyfriend/girlfriend for all you bubblegum zit-faced tweenies does not a bona-fide talented vocalist make.

Adele's talent is currently unmatched in the current music scene.
I'd suggest listening to any one of her songs, before you make
an uninformed comment about her as a singer. At 23 years of age,
her sound is unique and her songs are worthy and creative.

Its amazing how people like yourself get on blogs like this one and start naming calling. First you don't know her, most people that has a weight promblem is not because they eat to much its because they may have a medical condition. Before you start name calling people get to know why they have a weight problem. And for Adele she has a very unique and beauitful voice.

What has her size got to do with anything? She has got an amazing voice and is very talented. Some people put too much emphasis on a person weight and looks.Maybe she is happy with the way she looks. You have got to give her creidit where credit is due.She is,after all,the one that's making millions......

Adele is from a by-gone era. She has the vocal abilities of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. She's the ONLY young female singer, I actually listen to. All the others are Wanna-Be's. Keep rockin', sister!!!

If you like Adele, try Gabriella Cilmi or Madita. There is some very good stuff out there in that genre. You just don't here it here in the US.

It amazes me the amount of negativity that is written on these forums.

You hide behind your computer trying so desperately wanting to be something your not and trying to sound and act cool but in reality you are the ones that are worthless peices or jealous SH!T!!!

You would be so much happier if you really looked into yourself and figured out the person you really want to be instead of blasting out comments that no one really cares for as it just shows your insecurities and how pathetic you really are.

Waste of skin you are!!! I am embarrased that I share the same planet as you!

      1) Your alias
      2) The fact that you're trying to reason with trolls
      3) It's "You're" not "Your" in one of your sentences...

Seriously people? Walter Cronkite must be turning over in his revered grave over the tween level of discussion on this news site. Adele's voice is stunning and rivals Aretha & Patti Labell. She has humor, grace and sanity, doesn't do drugs and in this picture looks to be a completely normal, healthy weight. Re-condition your eyes people: most actors and performers are about 5'5, 100 lbs and have very large heads. I weep for the next gen...

Yeah, we're really evolving here. I wouldn't mind having a few extra pounds on me though if it meant having a voice like hers or the best selling album in years. Plus, she'll probably get about ten Grammys this year (and deserves them) so she's laughing all the way to the bank.

    Also, she's really pretty anyway.
