A time of change for 'Covert Affairs'

Our little summer obsession is back in the fall.

"Covert Affairs" returned on Tuesday with an incredible chase in Venice - where Annie lost an important package - before jumping right into a new mission.

This one, involving a chef she's been flirtatious with who also has ties to a Basque separatist group, was one of the more interesting missions so far this season.

And thanks to the tense scene between Annie and the chef's brother in his apartment, her discovery of a bomb in his restaurant, and the car chase culminating in a fire hydrant-drenched fight, this episode was certainly not hurting for action.

Change was in the air as well, since Danielle made Annie move out to a new apartment, but most interesting of all were the changes for Jai. It was a very effective fake-out to see him supposedly clean out his desk for Phoenix only to get a promotion instead, reporting to the DNI. No doubt, this development will have repercussions in the weeks to come.

The only downside to the episode was the relative lack of screentime for Auggie, but I have a feeling that he'll get another chance to shine soon.

Were you happy to see this show back as well? What do you think of the changes for Annie and Jai? Share your view on iReport or comment below.

you are being a jerk. I really like the show. It is not reality nor is it a soap. Get real. if ou do not like do not watch it but keep your negative opinion to yourself.

  2. Tired

I'm really really tired of all these stupid "empowered" women shows where you have some semi-attractive young thing running around and foiling global terrorist organizations after one year on the job. Of course, her most versatile weapon is between her legs, and she uses it every chance she gets because apparently thats what empowered women do. This mind numbingly unoriginal show will be gone in two years, but I have to wonder what original ideas were passed over for this crapfest?

Wow! You do realize it's a TV show, right? Not to be taken too seriously, only for entertainment value?

"Covert Affairs" was one of my summer guilty pleasures. Glad it is returning. Change is what keeps the plot moving forward, but I also think that 'Augie" is one of the best characters on the show (maybe on TV in general these days) and deserves more screen time. I thought one of the best episodes was when he attended the jazz festival in Istanbul...lots of screen time.
