While you were working...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • So, tell us: How was Katie Holmes' big reveal as the slutty pumpkin? Was she worth the wait and awkward cuddle time? This reviewer says there was plenty to love about "How I Met Your Mother's" Halloween episode,  but most of those reasons actually had nothing to do with the slutty pumpkin. [EW]
  • J.R. Martinez just keeps getting more and more love. The "Dancing with the Stars" contestant has not only won over lots of fans, but he has also been selected as the grand marshal of the 123rd Tournament of Roses. [E!]
  • Reese Witherspoon may be in hot water over her handbag. There are reports the actress is rocking a $4,000 python purse that is illegal in California. [Daily Mail]
  • We hope you like a little Jerry Seinfeld with your morning coffee. The comedian/actor will be the first guest host to fill Regis Philbin's shoes when he departs "Live! With Regis and Kelly" on November 18. [USA Today]

'Field of Dreams' to become baseball complex

The New York Times reports that the Iowa farm featured in the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams” has been sold. The new buyers reportedly plan to maintain the famous field… and add a youth baseball complex.

Don and Becky Lansing sold their 193-acre farm, listed last year for $5.4 million, to a group of buyers from Chicago led by baseball-loving couple Mike and Denise Stillman. (The sale price was not disclosed.) The Lansings had the property in the family for more than 100 years, and Don grew up in the white house with the wraparound porch.

The group, Go the Distance Baseball L.L.C., plans to add a youth baseball complex called All-Star Ballpark Heaven alongside the movie field (which was built by Universal Studios). A dozen new fields, plus an indoor center for tournaments are planned additions to the Dyersville, Iowa property. FULL POST

'Breaking Dawn' director: More romance, less thrusting

"Twilight Saga" fans have been waiting to witness post-wedding action between the series' protagonists, Bella and Edward  (remember the feathers furor?), but director Bill Condon had to turn the heat down a notch in the latest installment.

Condon tells MTV that in order to ensure "Breaking Dawn - Part I" kept its PG-13 rating - and Summit Entertainment has promised that it would stay PG-13 - he had to ensure Robert Pattinson didn't get too over-the-top with the hip action while in bed with co-star Kristen Stewart.

"It's almost clinical the kind of strict guidelines [the MPAA] have about anything that appears to be - how do I put it delicately? - that appears to be, let's call it thrusting," Condon said.

So instead of a lot of "thrusting," Condon focused more on the romance. "In fact," he went on, "it was so much more about romance than it was about hot-and-heavy action, so it was a very simple adjustment to make."

"Breaking Dawn - Part I" bows November 18.

Rihanna cancels concert due to flu

Rihanna's fans in Sweden unfortunately didn't get to see the pop star perform on Monday night, as she came down with what sounds like a wicked case of the flu.

RiRi - who was not hospitalized, although a tweet she sent out may have made you think otherwise - apologized to fans in a statement on Monday.

"I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo Sweden," the "We Found Love" singer said. "I was so excited to perform for you all. It would have been a great time…so much better than being sick with the flu, ugh! I'm really disappointed I couldn't be there."

'Dancing' gets scary for Halloween

Welcome back to the show whose episodes are generally shorter than Kim Kardashian's recent marriage, "Dancing with the Stars!"

Last night, the six remaining couples paid tribute to Halloween, with hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet promising the "scariest things you will ever see."  From the band dressed as zombies to skeletons sitting in the judges' chairs, the show was trying a tad too hard to be spooky.

David Arquette was our first celebrity up, and he was dressed like the magician that performed at a friend's fifth birthday party more than three decades ago.
